Kai Syaoran had six incarnations and although he was busy, Second Formation(An Incarnation of his) was monitoring the situation of the war.
He was within the Formation guild but it was easy for him to see to the Northern continent by using powerful treasures. He was seated in a hall with other elders of the Formation Guild. At the front of the hall, a man sat on a throne. This was the man who had taken over Second Formation's position as the guild master when Second Formation fell into a comma that lasted decades. When Second Formation returned, many people had thought that he would fight for the position of guild master but he surprised everyone by acknowledging the new guild master.
Second Formation became an elder in the guild but he was more than happy with this position. He did not have to do much leaving him a lot of free time to put his plans into action.
