Chapter 20 - 20. Speed

In the basement, the white wolf stood over the man's remains with glee in its eyes. Only a skeleton covered in human skin was left of the man. This site was at first pleasing to the wolf before it remembered that this scene was similar to when its mother and sister were killed. Anger took over causing the wolf to attack the skeletal remains with all its might pulverizing them into dust that filled the basement.

The wolf was shocked by its power, it had not expected to become this powerful so soon. When it realized its power, it felt sadness well up in its heart. The wolf quickly suppressed the sadness and prepared to leave the basement. It picked up the man's clothes and hid them at the bottom of a dirty box in the corner.

The only thing left of the man was the pool of blood on the floor. The wolf had used its mouth to carry the clothes but it did not want to clean the floor with its tongue. For a few seconds, it looked at the pool of blood with conflict in its eyes before surrendering to the circumstances. It licked the blood off the floor and in a single minute, the floor was cleaner than it had ever been.

As the wolf was walking towards the door, it fell to the ground due to a sharp pain in its head, It clutched its head with its feet and its howls were filled with pain.

It felt as though drums on fire were being beaten in its head. Blood flowed out of its ears and nostrils. Its eyes bulged as though they were about to pop out of its skull. For two hours, the wolf stayed in the basement howling in pain that would send a grown man to an early grave. It was on the brink of passing out but it had a feeling that if it were to lose consciousness, it would not be waking up ever again.

This forced the wolf to maintain its consciousness using its strong willpower strengthened by thoughts of vengeance. For the entire two hours in the basement, it stayed conscious and endured the pain.

When the pain finally came to an end, the wolf lay on the ground breathing heavily. It rested for about thirty minutes before it got up and went out of the basement.

Darkness had already replaced the light and the mansion seemed empty. The wolf made some preparations before it ran out of the mansion and into the streets of the city. The city seemed like a ghost city. It was as if the commoners had been informed that the night would not be peaceful.

In the empty streets, the wolf ran towards the royal palace at the center of the city.

As it ran, its speed kept on increasing and whenever the wolf felt that it had reached its highest speed, it ended up exceeding that limit and going even faster.

In the end, the wolf turned into a white blur on the streets. Wherever it passed, the strong winds generated by its high velocity shattered the glass in stores and even destroyed some stores that were made using weak materials blowing them away and filling the air with dust and shattered timber.

In a few seconds, the wolf reached the walls of the palace. The white walls were tall and looked thick enough to stop most cultivators unless they could fly but in all its years in human society, it had never seen a cultivator who could fly. It had only heard about such cultivators from stories.

The wolf looked at the wall and knew that it could not pass through them using brute force. The wolf ran away from the wall in the direction it had left.

When it reached five hundred feet away from the wall, it ran back towards the wall at an extremely high speed. When it reached the wall, the white wolf had turned into a single white line that moved up the wall in less than a second and disappeared beyond the wall.
