Chapter 85 - **Ch 85: Extended Family

Diva stormed out, rolling her teary eyes, while Zane chuckled and approached Kai. "If you wanna have a fling behind your wife's back, I won't say a word," he teased, aware that Kai would never cheat on his mate, just as he hadn't cheated in any of his past relationships.

"You're an ignoramus!" Kai grumbled, rolling his eyes.

Zane's opinions of females had soured since his lover cheated on him, which had changed him for the worse.

"Suit yourself." Feeling no disgrace, Zane carelessly shrugged. "I cheat on my wives all the time. Females are only good for spreading—."

"If you hadn't invested your heart in the wrong female, you'd feel differently," Kai rebutted, as the sharpness in his tone had slashed through Zane's arrogant remark.

"You say that, yet your mate fell for Orlando!" Zane viciously retorted. "You should have married Rose. She's the only loyal one who didn't cheat on you!"

Mad as ever, in a rage, Kai forcefully shoved Zane against the wall as he vehemently snarled, "My wife is snared to Orlando because of me, and Rose was never mine. Ace is her mate. Even if I hadn't dreamt about my mate the night before my wedding with Rose, I never would've stolen my best friend's mate. Ace even pleaded with me not to marry Rose on the same day of our wedding, and I wouldn't have either way. Besides all that, Rose didn't cheat on me with Orlando because she saw the issues between our Covens."

Had Kai known he was destined to have a mate, he never would have considered an arranged marriage with Samantha, nor would he have gotten engaged to Rose. Neither would he have dated any vampiress, for that matter.

In the ancient ages, nobody knew that ten thousand years old was the maximum age limit that a vampire could be fated a mate. After ten thousand years, vampires solidly affirmed they weren't fated to have a mate. Originally, the Superior Headmasters believed it was a hundred before it got revised to nine hundred. Then, one day, it was finally confirmed as ten thousand.

While there may have been numerous advantages to being Superiors, unfortunately, when it came to being the first of their Kind to experience life and love, it had its devastations.

Dozens of vampiresses were heartbroken when their husbands discovered they had a destined mate, and Kai was on the verge of making that same mistake with Rose.

Within the year that Kai turned ten thousand years old, he dreamt of infant Victoria the night before his wedding with Rose. Fortunately, Ace secretly knew Rose was his rightful mate before then, which undoubtedly brought Ace pain over his foolish decision to keep it to himself.

Nevertheless, Kai knew the heartache he caused Rose to endure wouldn't last forever since she unknowingly had Ace. Up until his disappearance for his mate to discover him, Rose fought with him after the cancellation of their wedding, as Ace withheld the truth from her. Just after he woke up from Victoria discovering his slumbered body was the first time in a long time that Rose acted normal with him. Sometime after Kai hid himself in that Egyptian city, Ace finally told her the truth, ultimately ending her brokenness.

With a fierce growl, Zane shoved Kai away, but suddenly, his contorted expression tamed softer when his anger receded. Despite Zane's changed attitude towards females, their friendship always endured strongly.

"I apologize," Zane frowned. "I was out of line."

Taking a breather to regain his composure from being furious, Kai remained silent.

Before they could exchange any further words, "Evan and Quin have arrived!" Levi's voice rang out.

Without hesitation, Kai hurried outside to greet his cousins.

"What a journey," Evan remarked alongside Quin as their warriors pursued behind them. "Congratulations, by the way."

"For what?" Kai asked, confused.

Quin stepped forth, providing better clarification. "Your mother's having the vamp baby, so your dad won't be able to join us."

"It's fine," Kai replied, understanding the situation, as he felt excited for his parents.

Due to Mr. Collin's involvement in smaller battles to prevent the onset of the first war, his father was frequently absent for much of his mother's pregnancy with his older sister, Veronica. Ever since then, his dad vowed never to leave his wife's side during her pregnancies, especially when their efforts to prevent the spread of the worldwide war ultimately failed.

"I hope you're prepared to no longer be your parents' baby," Evan teased.

Happy to pass the title to his expecting newborn brother, Kai chuckled, "I'm sure I can manage."

Despite his adulthood status, his mother and sister still babied him.

Setting jokes aside, Kai inquired, "Where is my brother?"

Another portal opened before an answer was provided, and more Alphas emerged with their warriors. Excited, Kai beamed at the arrival of his relatives. Sent by his mother's four older and younger brothers, each had their sons meet Kai here from the O'Donnell Coven. Even though Kai represented the Collin Coven, he was also the grandson of Headmaster Vincent.

On behalf of Headmaster Vincent O'Donnell, his firstborn son Aaron O'Donnell and his wife were entrusted with the leadership of the O'Donnell Coven during Vincent's slumber with his wife and his clan. Therefore, Uncle Aaron and his three younger brothers arranged for their sons to meet Kai with the O'Donnell's Coven army.

More portals opened, and Kai's cousins from his mother's nine older and younger sisters mobilized their sons alongside their Covens' armies. Along with them, Mr. Collin's five younger sisters also sent their sons and armies to join the effort. Although each of his cousins may have represented a different Coven, they were blood-related to Kai.

With a total of ten daughters and four sons between his grandparents, Vincent and Rihanna, the O'Donnell Coven suffered a period of weakness since their daughters got married off to other Covens. As a result, Vincent's daughters benefited their husbands' Covens over his. Over time, his sons and subsequent generations produced more male heirs to reinforce their Coven's stability. With the addition of Kai's extended family, he boasted thousands of cousins from various Covens. Grateful to receive help from his mother's formal Coven and his aunts, Kai couldn't be happier.

"How did you all manage to bypass the Seekers?" Kai asked, eyeing his cousins, who were roughly his age or far younger.

"Their focus was on your father's mansion, but they forgot how far our family really extended," replied Marshall, Mrs. Nasberry's third eldest son.

"Once we heard Chester's mental call, we gathered our armies," Travis, Uncle Aaron's son, added. "He'll meet us on the battlefield. A Seeker named Cane is helping him."

"I hope he can trust him," Kai remarked.
