It's Saturday and Ezra is calculating how much money he has left to manage before Mr. Dumas gives him his monthly money. He was given ten thousand two weeks ago, and he has spent two thousand on rent, and two thousand on doctor appointments, suppressants, and scent patches, he has also spent about five hundred on groceries during the past week since he didn't eat a lot, and a thousand and five hundred on others.
But now that he's practically feeding Arthur as well, he might have to increase how much he spends on food.
He made a list of what he wanted to buy and hoped that he wouldn't go out of bounds.
When he leaves the apartment building, wearing a pair of brown shorts and a white t-shirt that says 'No.1 Fighter' on it. A black car he's never seen before stops in front of the building and Arthur comes out of it.
"Oh, Arthur," Ezra said in surprise as he walked to him. "What are you doing here?" he asked.
"Surprise!" Arthur grinned. He was also holding a bag from the bakery he always bought desserts and pastries from for the both of them.
Ezra smiled widely, collecting the bag from him. "Thank you," he said.
"Where are you going?" Arthur asked.
Ezra glanced to the side. The car hadn't left yet? "I was just about to go grocery shopping," he replies.
"Can I come with you?" Arthur asked.
"Sure," Ezra nodded, he then pointed to the car. "Is he just going to be staying there?" he asked.
"No," Arthur asked. "He's just waiting for me to send him off," he said turning around to the car and nodding a bit.
The car started and left. "Is he a new driver Mr. Dumas hired for you?" Ezra asked out of curiosity.
"No," Arthur replied. "My uncle hired him for me," he said.
"Your scary uncle?" Ezra asked turning back to the apartment building.
"I already told you he's not as scary as he looks," Arthur said chuckling following Ezra. "I thought you wanted to go grocery shopping," he said.
"Well you bought this," Ezra said raising the bag filled with pastries slightly. "I want to keep them back in my apartment."
"Oh..." Arthur replies.
Ezra held his phone, looking through the list as he moved through the grocery aisles. He was looking at two different brands of cereal that were the same price. Should he just buy both of them, this way he'll have enough cereal to last him at least three weeks.
Arthur was exploring the grocery store, holding a few snacks and drinks in his hands. He dropped them into Ezra's grocery cart. "Why don't you buy both of them?" he asked.
"I should, shouldn't I?" Ezra said frowning a bit. He looks at the ingredients and then drops them in his cart. 'Sugar doesn't matter, it won't kill me yet,' he thought. He saw items he hadn't put in his cart, and then he looked at Arthur confused. "Why did you add them?" he asked.
"I want us to enjoy them," Arthur replied with an innocent smile on his face. "Don't worry about paying for them, that's on me," he said.
Ezra shook his head in disbelief. He looks at everything Arthur had put in here. They are things he wanted. He smiled a bit.
He checked the list as his grocery cart slowly filled. It was only by the time he got to the cashier register did he realize that he had gone off course.
He watched with a horrified expression on his face as the price went past two hundred.
The total came up to three hundred and seventy-six. 'I've never spent this much on groceries,' he thought absentmindedly.
"Ezra, let's go," Arthur said, nudging at him.
"Huh?" Ezra snapped out of his daze and saw that the groceries had been paid already, and Arthur was carrying several bags in both arms.
"You already paid?" he asked.
Arthur raised an eyebrow at him. "I already said I was going to pay."
"I thought..." Ezra was about to say something else but there were people behind him probably glaring at him harshly. "I'm sorry," he apologized to everyone behind him and grabbed the remaining bags on the counter.
"I thought you were only going to pay for the snacks you picked out," Ezra said, sounding a bit annoyed at Arthur while looking down as they were walking down the street.
"Are you angry?" Arthur asked.
"No?" Ezra replied looking up.
"Then I don't see a problem with me paying," Arthur replied.
Ezra's face was a bit flushed. "You are so unfair," he mutters a bit.
But Arthur heard him and smiled a bit. 'You are unfair as well, little prince.'
