...
Fatty Ma was off to brothel, it seemed.
"Goulan? Going to a place like that?" Tang San was surprised. He had heard of it, of course.
Dai Mubai explained, "It's a situation where there's no other option. Ma Hongjun has to release that 'evil fire', or he won't be able to cultivate properly. Ordinary women can't handle it... So, he has to go to a place like that or else he might explode."
Wang Feng found it quite intriguing.
This was a topic of delicate nature.
"Disgusting." Zhu Zhuqing muttered.
"I agree." Ning Rongrong chimed in.
Wang Feng smiled. The matters of intimacy couldn't be deemed as disgusting. In previous lives, many couples faced situations where husbands had to abstain from certain activities when their wives were pregnant. It could only be resolved through other means, part of human nature.
'However, I've been feeling a bit nostalgic for that kind of romantic setting lately, although it's not really my thing. Ma Hongjun, on the other hand, seems to be an exception.'
"Hehe, Boss Dai, did Fatty Ma did just drag you to go with him? Do you often go there too?" Xiao Wu asked, her eyes gleaming mischievously.
Dai Mubai's expression shifted. While he didn't frequent such places, it was only because his taste were more refined and he appreciated the company of a higher-caliber companion, as Wang Feng would put it—a picky fucker. Wang Feng shook his head at this point, it was venturing into unfamiliar territory for him. In his previous life, he'd never been to such an establishment.
"How could I be a regular visitor? My preferences are better than his." Dai Mubai quickly disavowed.
At this moment, Zhu Zhuqing, who had overheard, gave him a chilly look and said icily, "Your preferences are better than his? That's absurd... It's like comparing a gold coin to a hundred silver coins. There's no real difference."
This bizarre analogy left Wang Feng puzzled. Was this some sort of unique metaphor from this Douluo mainland? Everyone else was equally baffled.
Dai Mubai hesitated for a moment, only then realizing that he'd misspoken. In essence, there was no substantial difference, it was a matter of choices.
"Dai Mubai, you truly disgust me!" Contempt and disdain flickered in Zhu Zhuqing's eyes as she turned away.
As soon as her words left her lips, a tense silence gripped the air. Tang San and the others weren't aware of the relationship between the two but Wang Feng knew—they had a marriage arrangement before Dai Mubai fled from the Star Luo Empire leaving Zhu Zhuqing behind.
Dai Mubai's anger also surged upon hearing this and his blood boiled from the depths of his heart to his mind. His irrational rage overwhelmed him and he lost his composure, his aura flaring as he lunged toward Zhu Zhuqing, his hand raised threateningly.
"Stop!" he shouted angrily.
The group was completely taken aback by this sudden outburst. They hadn't expected the typically composed boss of Shrek Academy to lose control like this.
Just as Dai Mubai was about to strike, a figure suddenly materialized in front of him, catching his raised hand.
In a stern voice, the figure admonished, "Dai Mubai, I don't want to meddle in your personal affairs but this is not the place for such behavior! Do you want to tarnish Shrek Academy's reputation?"
All eyes turned to the figure and it was none other than Wang Feng who had intervened just in time.
Seeing this, everyone let out a collective sigh of relief. If this had escalated into a real fight between couple, it would have been truly embarrassing.
Wang Feng's words had jolted Dai Mubai back to his senses and he was in the process of retracting his raised hand. However, Zhu Zhuqing, with her chin slightly tilted, coldly remarked, "Wang Feng, let go and let him strike!"
Wang Feng was caught off guard. These girls were incredibly stubborn. Reflecting on Ning Rongrong, he couldn't help but think that, at their core, girls seemed to share some common traits.
After a moment of contemplation, Wang Feng released Dai Mubai's hand.
Dai Mubai glared at Zhu Zhuqing and eventually sighed dejectedly, withdrawing his hand. He had regained his composure now, realizing that a physical altercation was out of the question and he shouldn't had done that. Fortunately, Wang Feng had intervened in the nick of time, otherwise, things might have taken a very different turn and he might have made one of the biggest mistake.
"Heh..." Zhu Zhuqing snorted coldly, then turned and walked away without looking back.
Dai Mubai's expression remained gloomy as he followed suit and the two figures receded into the distance.
Watching this puzzling scene, everyone exchanged perplexed glances. Only Wang Feng shook his head repeatedly.
The night grew darker and they had no idea when dawn would break.
The group returned to the academy, their day filled with events that left everyone in silent reflection.
"Rongrong, I couldn't help but notice you seemed different today." Xiao Wu remarked while removing her coat in the dormitory.
"Earlier, both Brother and I were convinced you wouldn't be able to complete those 20 laps."
Ning Rongrong nonchalantly hung her coat on a hanger but her body tensed slightly upon hearing Xiao Wu's words.
"Brother mentioned that you're the eldest lady of a prominent family and might not have the stamina to endure it." Xiao Wu continued, approaching Ning Rongrong and playfully tickling her waist.
"But you surprised us both by finishing the run. By the way, didn't Brother Feng come to see you? He said you tripped while running, so he helped treat your injuries. Is the spot where you fell still hurting?"
Tripped?
Ning Rongrong hesitated for a moment, feeling a surge of anger within. It was Wang Feng who had been so blatant that he kicked her into the ground!
This was the first time she'd been insulted like this. And now Xiao Wu was insinuating that she'd fallen on her own!
'Infuriating! This is so infuriating! That bastard…'
"I'm fine now. It doesn't hurt anymore." Ning Rongrong forced a smile and decided she'd ignore Wang Feng tomorrow. He was just too irritating.
"Great, let's hit the showers. I fought a couple of battles tonight and I'm all sweaty and stinky..." Xiao Wu released her hold on Ning Rongrong's waist, raised her arm, sniffed and her expression immediately changed.
"I... I should go too!"
Back in the dormitory, Wang Feng reflected on the day's battle, finding it truly intriguing. Although [Deification] skills couldn't cover a wide area, their power increase was nothing short of extraordinary when applied to just a few individuals.
Zhu Zhuqing, who couldn't even best Tang San in a direct confrontation, became a formidable force when paired with [Deification] skill. In unfavorable terrain, the combination of Xiao Wu and Tang San was able to defeat opponents and can even leapfrog stages to fight in 1v2 scenario. The strength boost was immeasurable and when combined with immunity to toxins, it became even more potent.
"I need a defensive soul ability, next." Wang Feng thought aloud. He considered scenarios where he might encounter opponents like Zhao Wuji, who possessed long-range devastating attack soul abilities covering a wide area. Defensive soul skills would be crucial to counter such threats.
"In two days, my soul power should reach level 30 and become fully saturated. I won't be able to improve it any further. It's time to acquire the third soul ring. Once my soul power is fully saturated, Chaos Green Lotus should be able to give birth to its third form." Wang Feng murmured to himself.
Each form of Chaos Green Lotus possessed unique and enigmatic abilities. However, as the forms progressed, more soul power was required to birth new manifestations.
Chaos Green Lotus required a level of soul power that was beyond Wang Feng's initial expectations. At times, he couldn't help but feel fortunate that he had thought of using compression to refine his soul power even further. Without this method, it would be immensely challenging to activate the next form.
Not to mention... Wang Feng opened his palm and a small axe slowly hovered in the center of his hand. "Pangu Axe, the Supreme Treasure, stands on par with Chaos Green Lotus. It possesses a terrifying attacking force capable of rending even the greatest of heavens and earth asunder..."
Wang Feng gazed at this unassuming small axe. Though it was merely a martial soul and not a physical object, it still sent shivers down his spine.
"If I intend to use this martial soul, my soul power is woefully insufficient. Without compressing and purifying my soul power, I have no idea when or how long I'd be able to use it." Wang Feng lamented.
Every time he delved deeper into his abilities, he encountered a challenge. But he was determined to put in the effort required. Otherwise, he'd only be able to watch his potential go to waste—like sitting on a mountain of treasures without the tools to mine them. Despite having been bestowed with a wealth of resources by the system, progress still required patient and methodical effort and hardwork. There were no shortcuts to reaching new heights and gaining powers.
"Tomorrow or the day after, following the plot, Zhao Wuji should lead the team into the Star Dou Great Forest to obtain the third soul ring for Oscar." Wang Feng mused as he stowed the Pangu axe. The original storyline was supposed to unfold that way.
What he needed was a soul ring, preferably one with more than ten thousand years' old worth of energy, or even better, around thirty thousand years. That would allow him to reach level 40 and venture deeper into the Star Dou Great Forest for additional rewards. Thirty thousand years might seem a bit exaggerated, but with his current physical prowess, it was not an unattainable goal.
"We'll see how it goes," he thought before drifting off to sleep while meditating.
