Wang Feng's mouth twitched slightly. He couldn't help but think, the more beautiful a woman is, the more deceitful she tends to be.
'Ning Rongrong, this girl, expected me to be a normal auxiliary system soul master and wanted me to make a fool of myself. But honestly, that's expected. You see, in the original story, Ning Rongrong first appearance was as a wealthy and gentle lady initially but beneath the surface, she was full of spite and arrogance. It wasn't until she entered Shrek Academy that she started changing for the better.
Meanwhile, in the shadows, two figures whispered to each other.
"Hiss, boss, when did this young lady from our sect start hanging out with this big brother? This is the first time I've seen her outside of the Seven Treasured Glazed Tile Pagoda Sect."
"I'm not sure but she's clever, even though she's usually a bit proud. My gut feeling tells me that this boy might have some kind of history with her and she's doing this on purpose."
"Do we need to intervene?"
"Well, if there's some history between him and young miss and young miss wants this, then we should teach this guy a lesson. We'll step in discreetly, though."
At that very moment, as Ning Rongrong made her comment, everyone around started pointing fingers at Wang Feng.
Wang Feng, undaunted by the attention, smirked and approached the two of them. Trouble knocking at the door was never something he'd back away from, he'd face it head-on. That was just his style.
Ning Rongrong took a step back, a sly glint in her eyes. She thought to herself, "This is payback for that time you bullied me at the Rose Hotel."
But she also knew that she couldn't just leave him alone if he got beaten up. Well, she'd watch him get his due punishment. Worst-case scenario, she'd hire someone to treat him afterward.
Ning Rongrong, after all, wasn't one to also back down easily.
Wang Feng's words drew a clear line in the sand and the crowd parted.
Wang Wu chimed in with a smile, "If you want these bags of Gold Soul Coins, then let's have a friendly discussion."
Wang Feng, impatient, waved them over. These two twenty-level soul masters didn't pique his interest much, they were too weak for that.
Wang Wu didn't waste time either. He summoned his martial soul, Praying Mantis with two soul rings and with a swift dash, he struck toward Wang Feng.
In an instant, the crowd quickly dispersed and some looked at Wang Wu's martial soul with envy. A real soul master was a rare sight among the common folk.
Ning Rongrong, on the other hand, looked a bit worried. Auxiliary system soul masters like her weren't known for their physical strength and the difference was stark when it came to attack-type soul masters like Wang Wu. She hoped Wang Feng would be okay.
But suddenly, there was a boom and everyone turned their heads to see Wang Wu lying on the ground, trembling. It was as if his palms had turned to jelly.
Ning Rongrong was baffled. What just happened?
As she looked around, she saw that the spectators were equally surprised.
At that moment, Wang Feng, standing calmly, patted his hands and approached the two of them.
"Hey, what's your deal? You were also going to fight with me, right?" Wang Feng looked at the other guy, Zhang Si.
"Don't come any closer!" Zhang Si hurriedly took a few steps back, looking at the incredibly handsome boy with a hint of horror.
With the punch Wang Wu had just thrown, it should have been a knockout blow. But here's the twist, the boy stood tall and strong and Wang Wu ended up on the ground after his punch.
It was bizarre!
But Zhang Si, who had experienced his fair share of battles in the Soul Arena, knew better. This young man was outrageously strong and he certainly wasn't an auxiliary system soul master like they thought.
"That girl has been playing us!" Zhang Si mumbled under his breath.
"Here's your money," Zhang Si threw a few bags of Gold Soul Coins to Wang Feng and helped the trembling Wang Wu and quickly left from there.
The onlookers also dispersed after a few moments, impressed by the mysterious young man. An auxiliary system soul master shouldn't have such a robust physique.
Wang Feng turned and strolled toward Ning Rongrong, wearing a faint smile that sent shivers down her spine.
Ning Rongrong took a few steps back, her pampered demeanor showing. "What do you think you are doing? What do you want?"
Wang Feng shrugged, flipping a Golden Soul Coin in his hand.
"I don't want anything. Thanks for the free money though– I just earned myself a few hundred Golden Soul Coins just doing nothing."
Ning Rongrong was taken aback.
"That's mine! Give it back!"
"Give it back?" Wang Feng slipped the Golden Soul Coin into his pocket. He grinned, mocking her, "Didn't you just call me 'big brother'? Maybe call me 'big brother' a few more times for a chance at getting it back from me."
Wang Feng wasn't going to let her off easily. Ning Rongrong had deliberately tried to cause trouble, so why not teach her a lesson?
"You!" Ning Rongrong flushed with anger, glaring at Wang Feng dangerously.
She had only called him 'big brother' to embarrass him, not to actually consider him as one!
"I see you're out of money now," Wang Feng lamented.
"Tonight, you might just end up sleeping on the streets with the beggars. Heard they don't bath for months. You'll get to experience that."
Ning Rongrong's face turned pale at the thought.
"I'm alone in this town and he has my money. What if he doesn't return it?" Panic began to set in.
"W-wait!" Ning Rongrong hurried forward, blushing.
"Give me the Golden Soul Coin first and I'll call you 'big brother.'"
Wang Feng paused, amused by her change of heart.
The next moment, a bag of Gold Soul Coins landed in her lap.
A lazy voice chimed in, "No need for that. You're a bit young for my taste but I did want to teach you a lesson. Keep your Golden Soul Coin and learn from this."
With that, Wang Feng walked away, leaving Ning Rongrong standing there, dazed.
After a while, she sighed with relief, the tears that had welled up in her eyes now quickly dried.
Meanwhile, the two observers who had planned to intervene also retreated.
"This kid is courting death. Daring to mess with our young lady like that! Boss, should we step in and beat him up?"
"Nah, the sectmaster said as long as she's not in danger, she should explore the outside world on her own."
"And honestly, this kid might just be what our young lady needs to deal with herself. He seems to also have sparked her interest. I've never seen her like this before.
"This guy is something else..." Ning Rongrong watched the rapidly vanishing figure with a smile and whispered, "Tells me to call him 'big brother', then just walks away... What a strange fellow! But..."
She chuckled wiping her tears away.
"It's quite interesting... He said I'm young for his taste but he looks only about two or three years older than me!"
Ning Rongrong assumed Wang Feng meant her age when he mentioned 'young.' Recalling the day's events, she couldn't help but laugh again.
Just then, Ning Rongrong overheard a young couple arguing on the side of the road.
"No, I don't want to break up. Tell me, what's wrong with me? Can't I change?"
"It can't be changed!"
"If you don't tell me, how do you know if I can change it?"
"Fine, if that's what you want to hear, then let me tell you—you're too young. I'm not interested. So let's break up!"
"I'm not young! You're only two or three years older than me. Aren't we getting along pretty well?"
"Seriously, I didn't mean you're young in age! I meant... I'm really not interested in girls with small... you know. Can you change that? You can't, so let's break up!"
"Who said it can't be changed?"
"Uh..."
"You see, if you, um, touch them more, they'll... grow bigger..."
Ning Rongrong, blushed as she watched the young couple, who seemed to be in their late teens talk to each other, their faces redder than tomatoes.
And then it clicked to her.
In an instant, her face also turned crimson as steam seemed to rise from her head.
Ning Rongrong stomped her foot, a mix of embarrassment and anger consuming her. "Jerk! Pervert! Who's young? Next time we meet I'll definitely teach you lesson!"
She shook her head in frustration, her cheeks still blazing. "I'm not young at all! This is infuriating!"
Wang Feng continued on his way but he paused briefly. It wasn't because he was interested in the young couple's argument but because he felt someone watching him. It was likely one of Ning Rongrong's bodyguards or whoever was guarding her.
"The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Pagoda Sect has two Titled Douluos... Forget it, I'm not too concerned. Besides, I only wanted to teach Ning Rongrong a lesson," Wang Feng thought, dismissing the thought.
She might be beautiful but Wang Feng wasn't particularly interested in her. He had seen more stunning women in his previous life. Besides, her attempt to humiliate him had left a bad impression of her on him.
Back at the hotel, as the sky darkened, a tremor shook the building out of nowhere.
"Hmm?" Wang Feng looked towards the room where Tang San was. He remembered that in the original story, Tang San had find a special kind of stone to make the Tang Sect's hidden weapon, the Dragon Beard Needle, which was known for its ability to break through defensive abilities.
Wang Feng had tested many of Tang San's hidden weapons over the years. While he could handle most of them, the Dragon Beard Needle was a top-tier concealed weapon specializing in breaking through hard defense.
"I should give it a try. I wonder if the Dragon Beard Needle can break my defense," Wang Feng thought.
The next day, early in the morning, Tang San and Xiao Wu woke up Wang Feng. They were all going to head to Shrek Academy together today.
Leaving Suotuo City and traveling south, they passed through farmlands that reminded Wang Feng of his childhood in the countryside.
"Master said that after we leave the Suotuo City from the south gate, we should follow the main road heading south to reach Shrek Academy," Tang San said, gazing at the farmlands with a sense of nostalgia.
"I wonder what Shrek Academy is like, being located outside the city," Xiao Wu mused, plucking a ripe shrub of rice and playfully poking at the grains.
"I think they're poor," Wang Feng chimed in.
"Poor?" Xiao Wu and Tang San questioned.
"Why not?" Wang Feng smiled.
"Why else would they have to build the academy outside the city? But we'll find out when we get there."
Wang Feng, too, was curious about Shrek Academy. After all, he had only read about it in novels and had never seen it in person.
As they walked, Xiao Wu playfully clung to Tang San's back until they reached the outskirts of a small village in the distance.
Xiao Wu finally jumped down from Tang San's back as they reached the outskirts of a small village.
