Wang Feng's anger surged as the purple soul ring slowly ascended from his feet. He couldn't help but realize that he had still underestimated the complexities and darkness of this world. There were countless soul beasts, martial souls and soul skills beyond his imagination and also people whoe were vile beyond redemption.

Over the past year, he had honed his skills and knowledge, becoming a more skilled soul beast hunter. But today, something he could never have thought would happen, happened.

Old Black, Ling Rem and Silk Rong had been his companions for more than a year. Although he hadn't revealed all his secrets to them, they had forged a relatively strong friendship.

In that time, Wang Feng had learned about their lives and dreams. Old Black had a wife and a five-year-old child and who was preparing for his own martial soul awakening. The money he earned was most of the time sent home for their well-being.

Ling Ren, despite his penchant for verbosity, was deeply in love with a childhood sweetheart studying at the Advanced Soul Master Academy. Most of his earnings went to support her.

Silk Rong had also faced hardship and discrimination in the past. She had been a student at the Advanced Soul Master Academy in Balak Kingdom but due to an altercation with a powerful student, she was expelled prematurely. Her face bore a permanent scar from that incident. After wandering for a while, she had ended up in Fasnuo Province.

Wang Feng had been shared these stories while lying on the grass in the Soul Hunting forest, gazing at the sky or during moments of fatigue or laughter after battles.

Now, he couldn't believe that in an instant, Ling Ren and Old Black had lost their hands and even if they survived, their hands would be impossible to recover. Silk Rong, due to her role as a Controlling Spirit Master, was spared from such a fate but she remained bound and unconscious.

Wang Feng couldn't help but think, "Even I underestimated the world, the dark soul masters first appeared in the second volume of Douluo Dalu. I didn't think they also existed ten thousand year before."

He looked at Lin Shan and Teacher Mo, his eyes growing colder. These three were not just his comrades, he considered them his friends. He may have hidden some secrets but they had always been there for each other.

Despite his knowledge of Douluo Continent's main characters and storylines, he was still a stranger to the broader world. He had a lot to learn.

As the two adversaries taunted him, Wang Feng's body trembled with anger and the purple soul ring continued its rotation around him. He understood that he had to act, for the lives of his friends depended on it.

Meanwhile when Lin Shan saw the thousand-year soul ring on Wang Feng, she was baffled. Such a spirit ring should only belong to a high-level soul master, not a twentieth-level auxiliary system soul master.

The old servant, also looked curious but still disdainful, decided to test Wang Feng's strength. He summoned a unique martial soul resembling an oil lamp, with a strange white flame burning in its central wick.

Wang Feng, also not one to back down, rushed at the old servant with a short sword in hand. He moved with lightning speed, far beyond what an auxiliary system soul master should be capable of.

The old servant was shocked by Wang Feng's speed but remained composed. He unleashed his soul skill.

"Shine." Causing the flame in his martial soul to blaze even brighter. The white light flooded the area, turning night into day and blinding Wang Feng eyesight.

Suddenly, Wang Feng found himself in a world of white, unable to see anything around him. Despite his blindness, he remained vigilant, aware that he was facing a formidable opponent.

In the blinding white light created by the old servant's soul skill, Wang Feng had to rely on his instincts and physical prowess to evade the barrage of white fireballs sent his way. Each fireball was scorching hot and even Wang Feng's reinforced body couldn't withstand their intense heat.

Dozens of these fireballs swarmed him but Wang Feng's reflexes were extraordinary. He managed to dodge every single one, his movements almost ghost like. The old servant's voice taunted him from all directions, making it nearly impossible for Wang Feng to pinpoint his exact location.

The old servant gloated, "Hahaha, kid, do you feel helpless? My soul skill, 'Shine', not only blinds you but also dampens your other senses. You have impressive speed for an auxiliary system soul master and your strength must be formidable as well. Your thousand-year soul ring speaks volumes about you. You must possess exceptional physical abilities. But I won't allow you to get close to me!"

Despite his blindness and the overwhelming odds stacked against him, Wang Feng remained focused. He knew that this old servant was no ordinary opponent. His control over the situation was superb and his long-range attacks were very devastating. In this regard, he posed a significant threat to many soul masters at his or below his level.

Wang Feng's thoughts raced as he contemplated how to counter this formidable foe. He realized that he couldn't rely solely on his melee strength, as he couldn't even get close to the old servant no matter what.

The old servant's control over his soul skill was impressive. No matter how Wang Feng moved, it seemed that the area of brilliance moved with him, maintaining the blinding white world that trapped him.

On the other side, the old servant remained vigilant, carefully monitoring Wang Feng's every action.

"This kid is truly exceptional."

The old servant muttered to himself. "Even without his sight, he manages to evade my white fireballs purely through combat intuition and reaction speed."

Wang Feng's relentless efforts to dodge the fireballs showcased his extraordinary talent.

The old servant marveled, "Even a forty-level agility system soul master might not be able to execute such perfect evasive maneuvers."

Just as he spoke, tens of fireballs descended upon Wang Feng, their numbers increasing exponentially.

"He's no ordinary opponent, Miss. We can't afford to spare his life anymore." the old servant advised, keeping his guard up.

Lin Shan, wearing a special blindfold, seemed to be able to witness the spectacle despite her blindness.

"Then let's kill him and eliminate any potential trouble. His first soul ring is a thousand years old and he's still alive. It's unlikely that an ordinary person possesses such formidable physical attributes. He probably has powerful backers behind him. If we don't take action now, we might not get another chance." Lin Shan declared resolutely.

The old servant nodded in agreement. With determination, the thousand-year soul ring on his body radiated with brilliance.

"Soul Skill: Flaming Sky!"

With those words, countless flames ignited in the vast white space, converging upon Wang Feng's position. Flames surrounded him from all directions, slowly closing in.

The white flames, with their searing heat, turned the space into a blistering inferno, scorching everything in their path.

Wang Feng, standing amidst the blazing sea of flames, felt the intense heat and the imminent danger it posed. He knew that this opponent, a Soul Ancestor at level 40, was cunning and also had rich combat experience, not like an ordinary Soul Ancestor.

"If I hadn't reached level 20, I might not have been able to deal with you. I'll have to endure this slowly... as these flames continue to harm me," Wang Feng muttered to himself.

However, he was no longer below level 20. He had achieved this milestone recently, and his Chaos Green Martial Spirit had also unlocked its second form.

The 12th grade Red Lotus, second form, was the result of Wang Feng's efforts. He channeled all his soul power to activate the second lotus seed of Chaos Green Lotus, as the Red Lotus slowly bloomed in his palm.

"Flames?" Wang Feng sneered.

"In front of this Red Lotus, all other flames in the world are mere embers, sparks!"

The Red Lotus in Wang Feng's palm suddenly burst out with intense, fiery light. The dazzling glow transformed into towering pillars of flames, piercing through the radiant white world and reaching for the sky above the clouds.

Countless white flames, like a funnel, converged towards the central Red Lotus in Wang Feng's palm.

In the blink of an eye, the sea of white flames was completely absorbed, funneled into the Red Lotus at the center of Wang Feng's palm. Simultaneously, a subtle and refined energy flowed back into Wang Feng's body from the lotus.

"It's soul power! Can it absorb and convert flames into pure soul power?" Wang Feng marveled.

"Unfortunately, I don't have a soul ring right now, so my soul power can't increase."

This was the first time Wang Feng had experimented with the second form of the Chaos Green Lotus, Red Lotus. The result was remarkable to say the least.

With the flames dispersed, a faint flame also slowly enveloped Wang Feng's entire body. From a distance, he appeared as a fire deity, capable of incinerating everything in his path.

Wang Feng stepped out and the white light around him was devoured by the Red Lotus. The surroundings returned to their previous state.

At that very moment, he also spotted Lin Shan and the elderly man from the Soul Ancestor in the distance. Both of them wore expressions of sheer horror as they gazed upon Wang Feng.

"How is this possible? How did he survive?"

The elderly servant muttered, his disbelief evident.

"Did he withstand my soul skill? That's impossible! How could a twenty-level auxiliary system soul master withstand my ultimate offensive ability?"

Lin Shan looked at Wang Feng, who strode confidently with a fiery red fire like aura. She was so petrified that words failed to come from her mouth.

"Is that the true capability of his martial soul?"

Lin Shan shivered.

"I remember it being a small golden flower, capable of restoring soul power to those three fellows. How could it look like this now?"

The elderly servant was equally bewildered. How could this young upstart's martial soul change into a Red Lotus flower?

"Twin martial soul?" The elderly servant was inexplicably terrified. Such a thing should not exist! Their forms are eerily alike!

The Soul Ancestor, which had lived for over fifty years, had never encountered such an enigmatic martial soul.

"Teacher Mo, what do we do?" Lin Shan trembled.

The elderly servant's face darkened as he took a deep breath and once again uttered coldly, "Soul skill: Shine!"

In the palm of the lamp's oil and wick, a white flame erupted once more, radiating a blinding light as though it would engulf the world. But this time, the intense white radiance was abruptly devoured by the scorching Red Lotus before it could encase Wang Feng in it.

"All fire shall be devoured."

Wang Feng declared calmly, taking measured steps towards the elderly servant. In that instant, seeing the fire like aura surrounding Wang Feng, the two were utterly dumbfounded and scared.

This forty-level Soul Ancestor, primarily a long-range soul master, possessed formidable control and attack abilities but evidently lacked physical prowess. Right now, all his soul abilities were utterly useless against Wang Feng.

Wang Feng's hand transformed, creating a flame condensed from the Red Lotus, which he held in his palm. With a flick of his fingers, the flame quickly descended upon the elderly servant at an extremely fast speed.

It was a unique flame, formed by the condensing the Red Lotus aura and expending almost all of Wang Feng's soul power.

However...

The elderly servant's mouth opened wide, as if he wished to scream in agony but no sound escaped. The moment the minuscule flame landed on him, it ignited as if he were a parched wood. The crimson flame seemed to cleanse the world of its sins.

In the blink of an eye, the elderly servant vanished into nothingness not even leaving ashes behind.

Completely vanished.

Without a trace.

The tiny flame eventually returned back to the Red Lotus, flickering faintly, seemingly as though it might extinguish at any moment.

Lin Shan, standing nearby, was suddenly overcome with terror and despair.

A forty-one level Soul Ancestor—simply gone, without a trace!
