Chapter 20 - Twenty

Alerich, the experienced leader of the village protectors, stood in the training grounds. He focused on Wyrtt, a young goblin alchemist who seemed eager and slightly nervous. Alerich created a special test for Wyrtt. It would show how their protectorate philosophy works without violence.

"Listen closely, Wyrtt," Alerich began in his resonant, commanding voice. "In our world, not all conflicts can be resolved with force. Sometimes, we must find peaceful and non-lethal solutions to protect ourselves and others. Your job, young alchemist, is to create weapons that can harmlessly stop any future monsters. You must prove that it is possible to stop them without causing harm."

Wyrtt nodded, absorbing Alerich's words with determination. He knew the responsibility on him was heavy. He knew he had to find a way to stop the monsters. He had a new purpose. He promised to find new ways and things for weapons. These weapons would keep their village safe, but also be kind and peaceful.

Wyrtt immediately went to his makeshift camp, eager to start crafting more items to carry him on his task.

Alerich nodded approvingly, appreciating Wyrtt's enthusiasm and determination. Alerich felt excited as the goblin alchemist went into his camp. He was curious to see how Wyrtt would solve the challenge.

Wyrtt's hands shook a little as he mixed the dangerous potions, his mind filled with excitement. Alerich knew this challenge would test Wyrtt and teach him to find peaceful solutions in a conflict-filled world.

Wyrtt, with a mixture of determination and curiosity, nodded solemnly. He recognized the gravity of this mission and the importance of proving that violence was not always the answer. Wyrtt set up his makeshift workshop, his eyes fixed on the blank canvas of invention that lay before him. He explored his imagination to come up with ideas for making tools that could stop an enemy without hurting them.

As he sketched and tinkered, Wyrtt couldn't help but feel a surge of hope. He imagined a future where problems are solved with new ideas instead of violence. With each prototype he developed, he grew more determined to demonstrate that peace could be achieved through ingenuity and compassion.

His first invention was a set of meticulously crafted smoke bombs. Wyrtt used skilled hands to carefully adjust the non-toxic smoke's density. The smoke would make it hard to see, confuse the senses, and create a disorienting cloud. It wouldn't hurt the monsters. He believed that disorienting the enemy could be a potent tool for preventing violence and protecting the village.

Moving on to his next creation, Wyrtt focused on modifying crossbows. He wanted to design them to shoot bolts trailing the binding ropes. These ropes were designed to restrict movement without causing harm to the target. He wanted to demonstrate that you can prevent attackers without causing harm. He emphasized the importance of peacefully resolving self-defense issues.

For his third invention, Wyrtt crafted flash bombs that emitted brilliantly blinding light. These flash bombs were intended to stun aggressors momentarily, making them easier to subdue without any lasting harm. He invested time and effort to fine-tune the non-damaging light's intensity, ensuring that it was effective in the moment but left no enduring effects.

Wyrtt's dedication to non-violent solutions extended beyond his inventions. He firmly believed in the power of diplomacy and mediation, often advocating for peaceful resolutions in conflicts. He used flash bombs to show his skills and solve problems without hurting anyone.

Wyrtt went back to Alerich with his inventive tools in hand. Alric set up a practice monster attack. The attackers were experienced members of the village guard. They acted aggressively and moved toward the practice area. Wyrtt's heart raced as he watched the scenario unfold, knowing that the success of his inventions relied on this important display.

As the "attackers" closed in, Wyrtt hurled the smoke bombs with precision and expert timing. The non-toxic smoke filled the air, obscuring the vision of the "monsters." The protectors caused confusion, stopping the charge and giving themselves time to regroup.

Wyrtt quickly launched a second wave of attack. He used flash bombs strategically, calculating the brightness. The blinding flashes momentarily incapacitated the aggressors, leaving them stunned and disoriented yet entirely unharmed.

The "monsters" were stunned. The village protectors, skilled in using crossbows with binding ropes, acted quickly. They shot the bolts, which unfurled and skillfully entangled the blinded creatures. This effectively immobilized them without causing harm or injury.

The non-lethal weapons had succeeded in halting the simulated threat without violence or inflicting any harm. Alerich, observing the entire demonstration from the sidelines, was deeply impressed. He approached Wyrtt with a grin spreading across his face. "You've done it, Wyrtt," he commended warmly. "Your inventions have proven their worth in halting the aggression without causing any harm. You've shown that there is indeed a peaceful path in the art of defense."

Wyrtt nodded, a sense of pride swelling within him. "Thank you, Alerich," he replied humbly. I think these weapons can change how we handle conflicts by focusing on peace and fewer deaths. It's a step towards a safer and more compassionate world." Alerich clapped him on the back, their shared vision for a peaceful future shining brightly in their eyes.

Wyrtt beamed with pride, his heart swelling with a sense of accomplishment. He passed the peaceful defense trial. He showed non-lethal ways can protect the village as well as weapons. He realized that he was one step closer to being fully accepted into the esteemed ranks of the village protectors.

As he looked around at the villagers who had gathered to witness his trial, Wyrtt felt a renewed sense of purpose. He thought his success would inspire others to use different defense methods. This would promote peace and understanding in the community. Wyrtt looked determined. He promised to keep advocating for non-violence. He wanted to make the world safer and more compassionate for everyone.

As he gazed at Alerich and the other protectors, Wyrtt couldn't help but feel a profound sense of fulfillment. He showed them the importance of inventions that are kind and don't cause harm. He wanted to keep pushing the limits of peaceful ways to protect. With each new creation, he hoped to make the village safer without resorting to violence. Wyrtt was prepared to embrace the journey and show that non-lethal methods can maintain peace and safety. The path to acceptance was difficult but worth it.
