Chapter 14 - Found it

While the chaos unfolded inside the orphanage, the third member of the trio remained in the hallway, his attention firmly focused on the commotion coming from the common room. He listened intently, his expression hidden beneath the darkness that enveloped the corridor. His comrade's relentless pursuit of Ahiro had led to a cacophony of noise—shattering glass, splintering wood, and muffled shouts.

Moments later, the hallway fell silent as he waited for some sign of the outcome. The tension hung heavy in the air, and a sense of unease gnawed at his core. He couldn't shake the feeling that their mission had taken an unforeseen turn.

With a sense of foreboding, he made his way back outside to check on his fallen friend. The thin, enigmatic figure lay on the ground, her complexion unnaturally pale, and a fine sheen of sweat glistened on her forehead. It was clear that something had gone awry.

The third member of the trio knelt beside her, his gloved fingers deftly searching through a concealed pocket. He retrieved a small vial filled with an otherworldly, iridescent liquid that seemed to shift through an array of colors—shades of amethyst, emerald, and sapphire danced within.

The vial's design was intricate, adorned with pattern of a snake coilling all around the vial. Its cap, fashioned in the shape of a snake head, twisted open to reveal the eldritch contents within. The strange fluid inside seemed to defy gravity, flowing with a mesmerizing, slow-motion grace.

With careful precision, the third member held the vial above the fallen figure's mouth and released a few drops of the ethereal substance. The liquid descended like liquid light, disappearing into her lips. Almost immediately, color returned to her pallid complexion, and her eyes fluttered open.

This vial contained a potion that was very difficult to secure and had cost them too much. This showed how much they were willing to sacrifice for the completion of the task in hand.

Her voice, when she finally spoke, carried a tone of fatigue and bewilderment. "What... What happened?"

"You pushed your power too far," the third member replied cryptically. "You should have listened to my warning."

The third member offered no response, merely watching her with an air of stoicism. Their mission had taken an unexpected and perilous turn, and they needed to regain their footing.

Inside the orphanage, the situation remained tense. Ahiro stood his ground, blocking the path to the children and Miss Foster. The large man and the thin figure confronted him, their identities shrouded in the darkness.

The large man growled, his impatience palpable. "We won't ask again. Tell us what we want to know, or we'll take what we need by force."

Ahiro's voice remained steady, his eyes fixed on the intruders. "I won't betray those I protect."

It was a testament to Ahiro's unwavering determination that he refused to yield, even in the face of impending danger. The children and Miss Foster huddled in the corner, their fear mingled with admiration for the young protector who stood before them.

Outside, the fallen woman struggled to her feet, her strength gradually returning. The third member extended a hand to help her up, and she accepted it with a silent nod. Their mission was far from over, and they couldn't afford any more setbacks.

As they made their way back inside the orphanage, the darkness concealed their expressions, their intentions shrouded in mystery. The iridescent vial was carefully stowed away, a potent reminder of the enigmatic power they wielded.

The confrontation inside the common room reached an impasse, but none of the parties involved were willing to back down. The stalemate hung in the air, a precarious equilibrium that could shatter at any moment.

The couple, their identities hidden in the inky blackness, exchanged hushed words,

"What is that bull head doing playing arround with that brat"asked the girl in annoyed tone.

"Let him be, we have waste dtoo much time we need to get going" urgency tainting their whispered conversation.

They knew that time was not on their side, and that their presence had ignited a storm of chaos within the orphanage.

After their swift deliberation, they resolved to split up in their search for answers, each taking a different path to unravel the enigma that had brought them here.

The girl, her lithe form moving with an uncanny grace, ascended the narrow staircase that led to the upper floor, where the children's bedrooms were nestled. Her steps were nearly soundless as she navigated the darkness, guided only by her innate knowledge of the orphanage's layout.

Meanwhile, the skinny men ventured towards a part of the orphanage—the library. Its shelves are laden with books and documents. He moved in eerie synchrony, his steps in perfect harmony as they approached their destination.

Back in the common room, the massive intruder had cornered Ahiro, his sheer bulk casting a menacing shadow over the young protector. Ahiro, though daunted, refused to cower in the face of adversity. His heart pounded with a fierce determination to shield those he cared for.

The room felt like a battlefield, an arena where the clash between protector and invader played out in the muted obscurity. Ahiro's mind raced as he considered his options, searching for a way to evade his colossal adversary and protect the orphanage's vulnerable inhabitants.

The hulking figure of the man loomed over Ahiro, his anger a palpable force that filled the room. In the oppressive darkness, it was as though a tempest had been unleashed, and Ahiro found himself at its mercy. Ahiro wanted to dash away to check what the other were doing. He couldn't help but think if he stoped something bad may happen so he dashed but only exit was blocked by large man, there was a tiny gap but he had to take risk.

As he ran forward a blow came without warning, a punishing strike that sent Ahiro sprawling to the floor. Pain flared through his body as he collided with the unforgiving surface. He could taste the metallic tang of blood in his mouth, evidence of the brutality that had been visited upon him.

But Ahiro refused to yield. With a grit born of desperation, he pushed himself to his feet, his limbs trembling as he rose. He knew that he had to endure, and that surrender was not an option. The lives of those within the orphanage depended on his resilience.

The man, consumed by his own fury, continued to rain blows upon Ahiro. Each strike was a testament to his wrath, a relentless onslaught that seemed unending. Ahiro's world became a maelstrom of pain and darkness, his body battered and bruised.

Ahiro lay curled on the cold floor, a battered and broken figure. The relentless barrage of blows had left him in a state of agony, every inch of his body protesting the punishment it had endured. He felt as though he were teetering on the precipice of darkness, each strike driving him closer to the abyss.

The man's fury showed no signs of abating. He loomed over Ahiro like an avenging specter, his anger an unquenchable fire. Blow after blow landed with bone-crushing force, each impact eroding Ahiro's strength and resolve.

"Found It"

The loud voice reverberated through the orphanage, slicing through the tension-laden air like a thunderclap. The impact of those two words was immediate—the huge man abruptly halted his assault on Ahiro and pivoted toward the origin of the proclamation.

Ahiro, battered and bruised, remained on the floor for a moment, his chest heaving with ragged breaths. Pain radiated through his body, a visceral reminder of the ruthless attack he had just endured. But he couldn't afford to stay down, not now. Pushing through the agony, he used the nearby wall to hoist himself upright. Ready to face what laid ahead.
