Chapter 10 - CH8: Mystery

After that display of strength, those present at the location where the demons had been defeated by Denji and Tanaka were in awe.

The Aki team, consisting of Arai, Himeno, and Kobeni, along with Aki himself and Denji, who was injured and missing a hand, were all surprised by the attack.

"What just happened?" .Power spoke, honestly confused. What she had witnessed was an attack by the amorphous demon, and a simple move by Tanaka had made the demon cease to exist.

Tanaka, who seemed to be gazing into space with his power still active, turned in the direction of a building on the street, where a rare red-feathered owl with yellow ringed eyes was watching.

Tanaka and the owl locked eyes for a few intense seconds.

In Makima's office, she stared into space with one eye open, two fingers from her left hand covering her closed left eye.

Upon seeing how Tanaka was looking at the owl, Makima smiled.

"You hide much more than you reveal, Tanaka-kun," Makima thought with a smile before mentally ordering her owl to retreat.

Leaning back in her chair, Makima would smile with a curious glint in her eyes.

"Who are you, Tanaka-kun?" Makima said to herself aloud before smiling again.

Tanaka watched as the owl, which bore a rare physical resemblance to Makima, flew away from the scene with its ruby-colored wings.

'Makima was keeping an eye on me, huh?' Tanaka thought to himself indifferently due to the influence of Demonic Power.

"T-Tanaka," Denji said with a hint of weariness and heaviness.

Tanaka, who was lost in his thoughts, turned to face Denji.

"I see they tore you apart, didn't they?". Tanaka said with a hint of mockery towards Denji as he deactivated his power and released Power, who fell to the ground from his dark matter arm. The dark mark covering his arm disappeared completely, and his visible dark eye returned to its natural red color.

Denji merely smiled before collapsing from exhaustion and closing his eyes.

Aki, Arai, Himeno, and Kobeni descended from the building where they had been watching, their expressions a mix of surprise, and in Kobeni's case, a hint of fear.

Once they were on the ground, Aki and I moved with Denji in tow, while Power cradled her caged cat protectively and shot me confused and questioning looks.

"You're quite powerful," Himeno said as she stood beside me, while i was helping Aki with Denji, who was unconscious.

"I know, you don't have to tell me," Tanaka replied with a confident smile, his visible red eye shining brighter.

Himeno smiled at me with a hint of interest and flirtation.

"Are you a demon?" Himeno asked me with a smile on her beautiful face, covered by her eye patch over her left eye.

"I can be," Tanaka teased to Himeno, who only smiled back with more flirtation.

At that moment, a black SUV with a standard agent of the organization in the driver's seat appeared in front of us.

Aki, who had been silent, spoke.

"I'll take Denji to the hospital. Miss Makima told me that you should go talk to her about something," Aki said with a serious look.

I just nodded and got in the truck, which began to drive away from the scene.

I looked out the window as I was riding in the truck and saw another of the same type as the one I was carrying approaching the scene. Aki, Himeno, Arai, Kobeni, the unconscious Denji, and Power got involved.

Seeing this, I stopped looking out the truck window and focused on what Makima might want from me.

I don't know what she's looking for, but it probably has something to do with me being her pet or something, Tanaka thought to himself. Stopping thinking about Makima and focusing on something else in her thoughts something quite important.

"How can I learn to master Hiraishin without being affected by 'Eage'? Even though my vision is connected to my environment, which is beneficial but annoying because I receive data on every minor change in it, I can't help but think about progressing. .in the Hiraishin No Jutsu, which is an instant teleportation jutsu." While he was thinking, Tanaka realized something.

"I've been using one of my visible eyes, and although the range of vision and information reception is much greater, I don't feel like it's affecting me. Perhaps my brain has adapted to constantly receiving information. If that's true, perhaps I could use Hiraishin at least 2-3 times without bleeding," Tanaka thought excitedly.

(In Makima's office)

Standing right in front of the idolized Miss Makima's office, I couldn't help but sigh when my visible red eye caught sight of Makima's name on the sign on the door indicating that it was her workplace.

"What am I doing?". This is suicide, I thought with regret and frustration as I joined Makima. "But if you're wondering why I did it, it's simple. I wanted to stop Makima from using Denji and kill him and meet the Waifus. But I've been wondering something all this time. What was the entity that sent me here?" ?"

After gently knocking on the door, Makima's voice echoed from inside.

"You can come in," Makima said in a friendly voice.

Entering the room and closing the door behind me, I found myself facing Makima, who was staring at my striking red eye.

"Come closer," Makima said, gesturing for me to come closer, her friendly tone turning soft.

Taking a few steps, I approached Makima's desk as i placed my hand on the hilt of my sword.

"In 3 weeks you will go to Africa,".Makima said with a mysterious smile and an interested expression.

I stared at Makima with a puzzled and confused look before answering.

"Africa?".I said with obvious confusion on my features.

Makima simply smiled at me and looked at me confidently, a hidden feeling on her face.

"You will know the details soon. All you need to know is that you have to exterminate a village where a group of demons hide, ravaging the country and fighting over one of the remains of the Gun Devil, even though it is very small." The rest I will reveal in the last week before you leave Tokyo," Makima said with a smile before getting up from her chair and approaching me with a firm and confident step.

As I looked at Makima in front of me, I couldn't help but start thinking.

"Africa? Are you kidding? Did this happen in canon? Was there a Gun Devil remnant in South Africa? What the hell?" My mind raced as I tried to figure out what was going on and why I had to go to South Africa. Makima, who had gotten up and walked in front of me, raised her hand and stretched her arm towards my chest, placing her hand like a weapon directly to my heart with a soft smile.

Seeing this, I tried to move knowing the danger of this simple action but it was too late. Just when I was thinking of using my sword, Makima sighed and exclaimed calmly.

"BANG," Makima said, and the next moment, my heart and chest were pierced into a medium-sized hole, but my body remained motionless.

As I bled and began to slowly regenerate, I couldn't help but think:

'How come I didn't see it? Was I so lost in my thoughts that I didn't notice? But it's not possible, my 'Eage' will have warned me." Everything unfolded in my mind in slow motion as I watched Makima, who was examining the hole in my chest with interest as it slowly healed, a process that took 5 minutes.

"Interesting," Makima said, reaching out again, this time it was cut off in one swift movement by Tanaka's broken sword, which in the blink of an eye was already pointing at Makima's neck.

Makima simply looked at me and then sighed as her hand and part of her arm instantly regenerated.

"You're very interesting. I'm sure the two missions I'll send you on will be perfect tests," he said with a smile before walking back to her desk, returning to her chair, and sitting down.

"Two missions? You said it was just one mission," Tanaka said in confusion as he looked at Makima in bewilderment and kept alert due to his earlier action.

Makima simply sighed and looked at him confidently.

"You can go. Aki will tell you the rest at the hospital," Makima said with a smile.

I just nodded and left the place with many thoughts running through my head, shocked at what Makima had done and how my all-seeing eyes had failed me at such a simple attack.

Once I left the office, I reached the street, called a taxi and left the vicinity of the establishment.

In Makima's office, she simply stared at the place where Tanaka had recently been before staring at his phone.

Just as Makima was looking at it,he typical office phone ringtone rang out in her room, which was inhabited only by her.

Makima simply picked up the phone and, smiling confidently and calmly, began to speak.

"Everything went as you told me. Now we just have to see what happens. I really can't wait to see what this new pet of mine is capable of," she said confidently as she spoke on the phone and looked at her nails. .

There was a high pitched laugh over the phone before she trailed off and began to speak.

"I told you, didn't I?".the voice said a shrill, manic voice with a hint of mockery towards her, which could be heard throughout the phone.

"By the way, how did you know the weakness of his eyes?" Makima said with a confident smile and an indifferent look before continuing. "I never thought that I really had those special eyes that you mentioned." Finishing her sentence, Makima waited for the person she was calling to answer.

"Nothing escapes me," the mysterious voice said, its tone going from wild and high pitched to deep and chillingly deadly.
