Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Apocalypse

In the very middle of a classroom sat a pale-haired teen, his head resting on his hand as he watched and listened to the teacher.

A normal and boring day like any other, the sun blazing and birds chirping and students gossiping about one another.

Ken Kaiser had a blank and bored expression on his face and as he sat alone he decided to lie his head down to avoid talking or even looking at others. He truly despised chatting with others for some reason, but to no avail, someone tried to talk to him.

"Kaiser! you coming out to play?"

Ken looks up at the tall and dark-haired male, his attractive facial features make the girls fawn over him.

"No," Ken responded simply.

"Suit yourself then.." Rio sighed and walked toward the door to leave.

Ken laid his head back down and just waited for the school day to be finished.

He dozed off into a light sleep and soon opened his eyes to the sound of the bell ringing, he picked his head up from the cool desk and grabbed his belongings.

Ken follows suit as the others exit before him, The school doors fly open and everyone sighs and laughs as if they just inhaled a breath of fresh air Ken keeps the same bored expression and steps outside, the sun nearly blinds him and he instantly uses his hand as a shade to help see better.

"RAGHH" A grotesque monster with an enlarged arm and scaly back yet zombied form roars and attacks a student, The zombie feasts off the student.

Everyone is in silence out of pure shock alone, but soon all hell breaks loose and everyone starts to scream and run all over the place.

Some hopping fences and some just balled up out of fear. Ken is shocked as well that once bored expression is in a state of shock and fear. Ken gulps and runs for it, Rio who is running right behind him is yelling loudly.

"RAGHHHH," He screams like a girl and keeps bolting it, "W-WHAT THE HELL!"

Ken looks over to him and just keeps running, They start to slow down and their breathing gets louder and louder. Their body is getting tired and their stamina is depleted.

They both decide to hide in between two buildings sitting near a corner It was very dimly lit and trash rested near the walls, Flies buzzed around them and the putrid smell entered their noses.

They did their best to ignore it and just processed what just happened to them, Ken questions if this is a dream.

"No, no, no...t-this..this is maybe a dream. I-I'm still sleeping in class I know it."

Rio turns to Ken and just stares at him, "What do we do?"

"What do we do?..." Ken repeated after him, "How am I supposed to know?"

"Let's keep running,"

They both ran from between the buildings and kept running until they made it to the very end of the road they were running on and there they met 2 others, a teenage girl and her mother.

The two looked scared and shocked and the two boys wondered why, that was until they looked up to see pure calamity around them. Humanoid grotesque monster zombies roamed and kept devouring humans, people of all ages and sizes were dead and chewed off.

Small children to old adults, their blood splattered on the ground and smeared nearly everywhere. The 4 of them looked at each other and the sight that was playing out in front of them, Rio and Ken decided to hide with the two but the girl and her mother didn't like this much because they believed this would give away their position.

"S-So uhm.. what's your name?" Rio asked in a small whisper to the ladies.

Their voices shook and their body shook worse it looked as if they were cold or something, "I-I I am Lyla, and t-this is my daughter, P-Pan." Ken waved and sighed heavily he just couldn't believe this was happening so fast, one second he was in school and the next he was running from weird zombie monsters.

"Don't worry Ken we'll figure something out." Rio tried to encourage him to not give up.

"Yeah..."

Time passed and passed, it had been nearly 5 hours and they still just sat there hiding from the creatures.

But finally, Rio broke the heavy silence and said "To hell with this, Let's just go fight them!"

The teenage girl then looked up with blurry eyes, "How....haven't you seen it? They can punch through walls! We are no match for those things."

Rio gulped and just put his head down, "But, we can't just sit here forever!... let's go out and find something to eat or whatever."

The mother, Lyla looked down at her daughter and whispered "Yeah..let's go.. we need to eat."

The girl gasped softly but then just nodded and stood up with her mother, Ken stood up as well and started to walk with them.

The golden hair of Lyla drifted in the wind, even in the apocalypse she looked good. "Ms. Lyla you don't look a day over 21...Haha ~" Rio tried to lighten their moods, but it didn't work not one bit.

"Thank you..I-I appreciate it." The four of them stepped over the half-eaten bodies and walked past destroyed buildings.

"Guys look, a convenience store. It looks as if some of the stuff has been taken but let's get what we can." Rio led the group of four into the store and scavenged what they could.

Ken grabbed some chips and water, they used plastic bags behind the counters to store the food. And after they were done they left the store with 5 bags full of different foods, Ken had already opened a bag of his chips and eaten them.

"Let's keep walking, It's been quiet for a while now so I don't think any of those zombie monster things are by."

"I see some shoe prints and blood patterns going this way." Ken pointed to a small blood trail and multiple shoe markings heading east.

"S-Should we follow them?" Pan spoke up, "Uhm.." Rio was feeling pressured by the fact that he was being treated as some type of pack leader.

But he chose to follow the patterns to see where they headed as it would lead them to others.

"Let's go."

Rio, Ken, Lyla, and Pan stood side by side as they followed the trail of footmarks. They tried their best to stick near each other and not go wandering.
