[Mombasa Hospital Children's wing room 7]

tak tak tak tak tak....

[Dhalik!!!! come back here, young man.]

Now you're probably asking yourself what the hell is happening....

tak tak tak tak tak.....

Dhalik [No, I will not nurse Elli, I'm sick and tired of all these tests you keep conducting on me, this place and I'm also sick and tired of you, so stop chasing me I want to go home.]

tak tak tak tak.....

Yeah, that's right, it's the younger me running.....

Why, you ask?

Well...

tak tak tak tak....

Nurse Elli [There's a reason we have to conduct them. You were in an accident. For God's sake, you fell from a building.]

tak tak tak tak...

Yes, that's right three weeks ago while playing football, with some friends from my neighborhood. I kicked the ball a little too hard, and it ended up on the roof of a house...

Now you would think that as children, when something like this happened, we would go to get adults to help us. If you thought that, then you'd be wrong and get big fat F on your exam...

Because like a lot of other naughty kids, I went and tried to get the ball back myself...

You see next to the building where the ball was, stood a tree with low hanging branches, and I used them to climb up the tree and onto the rooftop of said building....

tak tak tak tak....

[Oh..Sto...]

---Crash---

Dhalik [Auch!!]

Dr. Mwenyeji [Auch!. Indeed.]

*************************************************

[five minutes earlier]

*************************************************

Dr. Mwenyeji [Well, I guess it's best to head over to the trouble maker first.]

tak tak tak....

Dr. Mwenyeji {To be so energetic three weeks after such an accident, haah.. it's good to be young, I guess.}

tak tak tak....

[ Good day, Dr. Mwenyeji.]

tak tak tak...

Dr. Mwenyeji [Good day to you, too, Dr. Kale.]

tak tak...

Dr. Kale [You're in a hurry today.]

tak tak tak...

Dr. Mwenyeji [That's right]

tak tak...

Dr. Kale [Let me guess, it's that boy again or am I wrong.]

Dr. Mwenyeji [No, you're not wrong on that one. It is indeed Dhalik who is acting up again.]

[oh]

----crash-----

Dhalik [Auch!!]

Dr. Mwenyeji [Indeed its painful]

tak tak tak tak....

Nurse Elli [Are you OK, Dr.]

Dr. Mwenyeji [Yes, yes, I'm fine. Now young Mr. Dhalik, why are you making it hard for nurse Elli to do her job properly?]

Dhalik [Because I want to go home, like she promised me yesterday.]

Dr. Mwenyeji [Oh.. Did you now, nurse Elli?]

Nurse [Uh, well, I promised he could go home soon once you approved of it, Dr. Mwenyeji, but he is just acting childishly about it.]

Dhalik [That's because I am a child. You illiterate. Read the mood.]

Nurse Elli [Wha.. you. haa...]

Dr. Mwenyeji [Now now why don't you let me handle it, nurse Elli.]

Nurse Elli [.....Yes Dr.]

Dr. Mwenyeji [Dhalik, my dear boy, I talked to your mother today, and do you know what she said?]

Dhalik [What? You talked to mom. What did she say?]

Dr. Mwenyeji [Hoho, yes, your mom said she'll pick you up the day after tomorrow, so how about we do the last test tomorrow and you get to go home the day after?]

Dhalik [hmm... Fine.] (I can't get away now anyway)

Dr. Mwenyeji [Great, now if you'd please get back to your room. Nurse Elli, please escort him back.]

Nurse Elli [Yes, Dr. Now come along] (You stupid prick)

Now, while walking back to my room, why don't I finish my story. Where was I again....

Oh yeah, I was at the part of climbing up to the roof, so I used the tree to get onto the roof, got the ball back, and threw it down to my friends...

When I wanted to go back down again, that's where things took a turn for the worst. You see, to get back down again, I had to first get on the tree again and climb back down. Now, to be able to do that, I had to take a small run and jump to get to the tree, but the roof wasn't as resilient and cracked....

While running down the roof, one of my legs went right through it, got caught up in something, and I fell off a height of 5 meters, head down like I was diving straight to the ground.....

While falling, the only thing going through my head at that moment was fear. Yeah, I was afraid. You could even say that I was shocked by fear...

But what could you expect from a young boy of eight to be but fearful of getting hurt by the fall. the moment I hit the earth, the lights went out, and there I was, laying on the ground, bleeding bones broken and out cold..

I heard later that my friends went and got some adults to help, who later brought me to the hospital where I died later. Yeah, I died. It's funny how things turned out right. I was clinically dead for 8 minutes and 31 seconds, and the emergency workers thought I was done for, till I miraculously revived at the end.....

While the doctors and nurses were trying to save me, I was in a world of my own all black and white with my pasts, presents, and future's. It was like time stood still, and I was at a crossroad.....

To be continued...
