General POV:
In between the spamming of spells, Iros didn't fail to notice the demon attempting to escape. But he decided to ignore him, as he was well within his territory, and it was a simple matter of just sending Droopy after him. His eyes darted to where he saw Droopy last, then pauses in surprise. Droopy... was dead?
A punch hits him back, making him regain his senses and pulling him out of his shock. In anger, all of his runes glow, as beams shoot out of each of them. Shiva jumps out of the way, as the beams continue past her into the distance where a huge explosion resounds off where they connect miles away.
He takes a deep breath, healing the wound on his face as he regains his composure. Doing so, he notices Shiva with one of her hands up to her ear, which gets him thinking.
'If she's here for the demon, it would be too much trouble for her to let him escape into my territory. Even she knows that she should have him confined within her vicinity for an easier apprehension. Unless...'
His eyes narrow as he looks at her, arrogantly smiling at him. She can't help it anymore, as she begins to laugh uncontrollably.
"I was worried that you might figure it out from the beginning, but you've grown dull. Being the Demon King of Knowledge, one would expect you to use it. Shame. It's been fun but I'll leave my mess to you." Shiva tells him as she raises one of her fists in the air.
Iros watches as all the demons that came out of the portal with her begin to retreat as portals reopen up behind them.
'Did this bitch just... trick me?'
He had assumed that Shiva was after the demon that was within the city, but now that he thinks about it, everyone knew he had more priceless artifacts stolen from humans here as well. The demon and this fight were all just decoys. He looked around, scanning each demon that was retreating as he tried to figure out just what they stole from him.
Not seeing any demon, he decided to just stop them all from leaving. He clasps his hands together, but as he does so, he dodges an attack from Shiva.
"I'm not going to let you stop me."
He retreats as he dodges three more punches. Two beams of pure energy come out of his eyes that she easily bats away.
'Hey, I think I could actually kill him at this point.' Shiva thinks, which brings an even wider smile to her face. However, she could feel him gathering a dangerous amount of mana within himself which causes her to remember some rather critical information. Iros really hated losing. So much so, that he is like a literal child and was prone to tantrums. If tantrums were the equivalent to blowing up everything around you.
She'd face one of those said explosions in a prior engagement between them, and she had to admit, she was not a fan. It hurt and would put her in a rather vulnerable spot. Time to go. She looked around, confirming that her second in command made it through, before rushing to the portal herself.
Most of her forces made it through the portal, but it wasn't looking like the rest were going to make it through in time.
"Close it." She commands to Azure, who nods at her.
Just as the portal begins to close, every demon could hear Iros' blood-curling scream as the mana around him gets released, sending a wave of dangerous aura that disintegrated anything that it came into touch with it. As the wave nears the portal, it promptly closes shut, keeping those on the other side safe.
Shiva turns to her second in charge, "Did you get the thing?" She asks full of expectancy.
"Yes, milady. In fact, I got something else as well." He says but doesn't explain further. He doesn't make the mistake of discussing something so sensitive in the presence of so many demons.
Hearing this, she has full trust in him, so she knows that he got something good. The events of everything finally hit her, and she can't help but begin to laugh. She couldn't believe that she actually successfully pulled that off with little more than losing low ranking demons. Against the Demon King of Knowledge no less. That was worthy of a laugh. Her uncontrollable laughter unnerves the other demons who slowly inch away from her.
Clutching her stomach from the laughter, she can only think of one thing. 'Times really are changing.'
A/N: Sorry about that little "break". I was in a cafe typing some chapters when some random person tripped and spilled their coffee on my laptop, ruining it. I was waiting two weeks for a replacement laptop because trying to type chapters on a phone is horrendous.
