Chapter 5 - Mid Term (P2)- Elite qualification exam (FP)

Rina scoring so high was an upset but for the most part, it didn't put a scratch on Longwei's place, and with the last person being a commoner Longwei had no reason to sweat, he was already imagining how he would charm the elites of the school into being his allies and use their resources and connection to further himself. He was already daydreaming about his glory that was all but set in stone when Sora finally got up with a generally disappointed expression on his face. As for his results, even the people present couldn't believe it.

30 Seconds into the first test The orb was twice as bright as when Longwei had attempted it and finished, by the time he had finished the ball was bright enough to light up an entire hallway if the sun ever needed a day off, Sora had gotten a 350 out of 100 on his final evaluation which greatly shocked everyone who felt they had heard it wrong. Nothing was said as most assumed they were hallucinating it, maybe it was a slip of the tongue or something. To them, the judgment of the system was an ironclad truth that couldn't be faked or mistaken, yet they would all rather it be wrong than face the implications of this first test alone.

More than anyone here, Longwei began to sweat as Sora moved to the second trial, Even if the next two turned out to be trash it was still a fact that he could gather mana and cultivate it more than three times as fast as he could, meaning he would always have an advantage of speed when the Magic casting portion of the syllabus came along, he would have to find a way to increase his speed before then or he could only bury his face in shame when the time for the second official examination came for the next term.

Sora moved to the next portion and placed his hand on the imprint, letting the stand scan him without interference. Violent bolts of molten lightning shot out in all directions as the evaluation was concluded, As Takada suspected the Stand shone a very radiant pure gold, the aura once again was bright enough to brighten up a large hallway fully without the assistance of the Sun; this fact only made it all the clearer to Longwei that Sora would likely best him in all regards. Anyone with half a brain could recognize this result as the boundless mana color, when a mage was evaluated to have the maximum possible mana reserve for their rank the stand would glow a pure gold color, and the brightness would determine how much control they would have over that large amount of mana.

Sora moved over to the last part of the trial which nobody even wanted to see anymore, he had already more than broken the natural limits of the examination in his first 2 tests and nobody doubted he could break the third, they would never truly accept it in their hearts but it wouldn't surprise them if he did. Sora got into position and focused his will on the stand and let it evaluate him fully and without attempting to hide his strength, the test went through its usual fanfare of orange electricity sparking that melted everything it struck before settling down. Half the people would have expected him to have 1 star and 50%, even 2 stars might have been acceptable going with the trend he was setting, but even his prior bullshit but even that was a gross underestimation of his knowledge and talent in cultivating.

Sora was a 4-star basic mage with 25% of the 5th star completed, this young prodigy was at the peak of the early basic stages, this was something most would only dream of reaching after half a year of constant cultivation where they only ate, slept and cultivated the whole time. Longwei could feel a metallic burning liquid coming up his throat but swallowed down the blood and could only look in depression crying internally at how his glorious moment was stripped away from him. Arrogant as he was Longwei knew that you don't just luck your way into results, unlike what most stories told even the greatest of lucky opportunities would be useless in the long term so nobody even entertained the idea of Sora getting some miracle pill to boost his cultivation for the exam. All in all, Sora got an S+ for breaking all the pre-set upper limits, he didn't know this but his actions today would Unknowingly raise the overall quality of Mages in the future.

Following the Mid-terms Sora entered a week of seclusion to do three things, grow himself to a 5-star Basic mage & officially enter the mid stages, fully consolidate his cultivation base in the Stage & begin mastering the spells for his two elements, lastly though, Sora planned to make a completely new spell that combined the basic elements of both his Supreme Fire and Dark purple Lightning elements. Sora managed to complete his first task within the week fairly easily, besides some more freedom in casting spells he couldn't identify any differences he had no prior knowledge of.

He then spent what little time he had left growing out his mana cores and stabilizing his 5-star basic mage cultivation. He didn't rush the process but it didn't take long for him to finish his consolidation as he spent only 2 days on the task. He then spent the remaining day in his first week of midterms improving the casting speed of his basic Fire and lightning spells.

The fire element basic spell was Fireball, and of all the basic elements it had by far the most destructive capability, one that was only surpassed by the Lightning element However, to use that power, or the power of any element really, a very specific procedure needed to. If one paid close attention when they weren't a mage thru would see that the actual process of raising one's cultivation was very simple, because frankly at its core, cultivation itself is just unlocking the full scope of a mage's mana reserves and mana pool. This would be a long process if they wanted it to be, it would take a decade at best.

That is because most of the resources a mage will consume in their lifetime do not affect their mana pool or their cultivation speed, but rather how quickly and effectively they can develop their elemental cores. Unlike with mana, when a mage upgrades the quality of a spell it is permanent. Sora had a way he liked to view and explain magic cultivation that he felt summed up quite nicely.
