Chapter 9 - Rise of the star devouring emperor I

Lin Feng stood on the edge of the cliff, the wind ruffling his hair as he gazed out at the sprawling city below. His thoughtful expression mirrored the intelligence that resided within his mind. At seventeen, he possessed a rare cautiousness that had kept him from embarking on the path of cultivation that so many of his peers had already embraced. His friends often teased him, but Lin Feng knew that his time would come, and he wanted to be fully prepared.

"Lin Feng, you're always lost in your thoughts," came a voice from behind him. Lin Meng, his friendly rival, approached with a confident smile. He was a year older and had already made significant progress in his cultivation journey.

Lin Feng turned to face him, his eyes locking onto Lin Meng's. "Just considering my options," he replied cryptically.

Lin Meng laughed. "You mean still thinking about whether to cultivate or not? You're missing out on all the excitement!"

"Perhaps," Lin Feng said, his tone measured. "But I believe in taking the right step at the right time."

Their banter was interrupted by a strange sensation, a prickling at the back of Lin Feng's neck. He turned, scanning the area. That's when he saw him—the unassuming figure of a man in plain robes, standing not far away. Despite the man's ordinary appearance, Lin Feng sensed an aura of power and danger.

Meanwhile Lin Meng fainted and diseapered.

"Who are you?" Lin Feng demanded, his caution kicking in. And seing Lin Meng's fate, a bad premonition rose in his heart.

The man smiled, a chilling glint in his eyes. "Just a traveler passing through, young one."

Lin Feng's instincts screamed at him that something was off. "This place is not a common travel destination," he retorted, his hand inching toward the concealed talisman he always carried for protection. ALthough he had yet to enter the dao, he has long sensed qi so he could activate some pseudo-talisman that allied technologie and cultivation.

"True," the man admitted with a chuckle. "But sometimes, unexpected opportunities arise in the most unlikely places."

Lin Feng's heart raced. He couldn't afford to let his guard down. "Opportunities for what?"

The man's smile widened. "For power, of course. The kind of power that can reshape destinies."

Lin Feng's mind raced. This was no ordinary encounter. This man was dangerous, and Lin Feng could sense that he was after something, something that had to do with Lin Feng himself.

Without warning, the man's form seemed to blur, and before Lin Feng could react, a surge of energy enveloped him. Lin Feng's vision swirled, and he felt his consciousness slipping away.

In the darkness, Lin Feng fought to regain control. He could feel the intruder trying to invade his mind, to possess his very being. With every ounce of his willpower, he pushed back, creating a mental barrier to protect himself.

The struggle was intense, a battle of minds and spirits. Lin Feng could feel his strength waning, but he refused to give in. He tapped into reserves of determination he never knew he had.

And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, the pressure lifted. Lin Feng gasped, his heart pounding as he found himself standing alone in a dimly lit cave. The man was gone.

"Bravo, young one," a voice echoed in the cave, sending shivers down Lin Feng's spine. He turned, his eyes widening as he saw an ethereal figure materialize before him. It was the man, but not the man—the essence of his being.

"You resisted my possession," the figure said, a mixture of surprise and approval in his tone.

Lin Feng took a cautious step back. "What do you want from me?"

The figure chuckled. "As I said, an opportunity. I see potential in you, a strength of will that is rare. I had intended to possess you and use your body as my vessel, but you've proven yourself worthy of something greater."

Lin Feng's brow furrowed. "And what's that?"

"The legacy I leave behind," the figure replied. "Hidden in this cave is a source of power that only someone like you can harness."

As the figure spoke, the cave seemed to come alive with a soft, pulsating light. Lin Feng's curiosity battled with his caution. Could he trust the words of a being that had just tried to possess him?

"What's the catch?" Lin Feng asked warily.

The figure's smile was enigmatic. "Only that you take on the responsibility that comes with great power. Will you accept?"

Lin Feng hesitated, his mind racing. This was the moment he had been cautious about, the moment that would set his path in stone. He looked at the figure, then at the pulsating light.

"I accept," he said finally, determination shining in his eyes.

The figure nodded approvingly, its form dissipating and leaving behind a sense of ancient wisdom and power.

Lin Feng took a deep breath and stepped toward the light. As he did, the world around him seemed to shift, and he knew that his adventure was just beginning.

Little did Lin Feng knew that the expert was know as the celestial theif. He is someone wanted by great sects because of his actions of theiverie. So the so called responsabilities were to take his karmas so he can reincarned more rapidely. From what he knew the less karma you the more quickly you can reincarned and the more likely you are to retain your past life memories.

Even in his previous life, Di Tian was a big otaku. So he did not have many karma and with his link withe calamity stars influence retaining his memories was only normal. In a sense he and the calamity star had a fair trade. That is if you omit the fact it was a fair trade.

(Note the one who tried to possess Lin Meng is not Di Tian. Di Tian is currentlyin his sect and he will not be involved in the following chapters 7-9 chapters.)
