The man led me towards the stairs to the second floor located at the back of the room. It was rather amusing to see the different looks people gave me as I was being led upstairs. It seems to be a theme in this world, the second floor if for the important folk.
The carpet on the stairs was red, unlike the main floor. It seemed like they did this to further differentiate their statuses. The handrails were capped in gold, they didn't have the same aura as the Alchemist guild so they couldn't be pure gold.
The second floor was much smaller than the first, around half the size. The furniture was largely the same but the colors were different. The floor matched the bright red carpet from the stairs and the furniture was velvet dyed bright purple. The black accents were still the same but there were touches of gold and artwork which wasn't present on the lower floor.
The people on this floor all wore bright colors and were accompanied by someone in a penguin suit. They must be from the noble class. There were some funny looks shot at me by them but no one spoke out as I was following a tall penguin.
He led me to the back of the common area where there were 4 private rooms. Two of which had the doors closed, he gestured to one of the open ones. "You may use this room as you please. If you need assistance or anything at all, please just let me know. I will remain outside the door."
I walked into the room and he closed the door behind me. It was only then that it hit me. 'Did he just say they would get me anything with a wink. WTF?! How old does he think I am! Also why did I get such VIP treatment, does he think that I am a noble?'
Too many thoughts were running in my head for me to appreciate the room. An entire wall was made with polished silver which made it a mirror. A it wasn't anything amazing judging by modern standards but amazing by medieval standards.
The room was full of a warm brown wood with violet carpets. There were no chairs in the room but there was a small bench for sitting and a larger one for laying down. The fabrics in this room were the same as the area outside only their locations swapped
When my brain stopped spouting off questions which I couldn't answer I discarded my Paupers Clothes and put on my new clothes. The seamstress had made a pair of black socks, beige pants and a black long sleeve shirt.
It wasn't anything special but it was so much nicer on my skin than the rough clothes I spawned in. I realized that I forgot one thing though, I didn't purchase any boots.
I sighed but then remembered the penguin outside. I opened the door and stepped out of the room. "I will need a cobbler and a seamstress. This will work for a few days but I need more. Could you call them over for me while I do the exchange? I am looking for a dozen outfits including fighting attire."
"Of course my lord. I will have someone on that right away." he looked towards one of the penguins standing around against the walls. He immediately got to action and speed walked down the stairs to get a craftsman. "Is there anything else?"
"Just the coin exchange. After my measurements are taken then I need to go back and do some shopping at the Alchemist Guild."
"Verywell my lord. What would you like exchanged?"
I pulled out 10 platinum and set them on his extended hands. "Too few places take platinum. I want 10 Large Gold and the rest in smaller denominations, keep the majority of it in silver."
The man's eyes went wide for a split second before he recovered. "I will be back with your coin. May I suggest you open an account at the association? It is more convenient than keeping large sums on your person."
I shook my head. "As a Player carrying around large quantities of anything is no challenge at all."
"Thank you for your enlightenment, my lord. Please enjoy yourself while you wait." The penguin bowed once more before leaving.
I looked at the arrangement of furniture in the room. It seemed that there were 3 groups within the nobles present. They all wore different colors and didn't have any identifying characteristics. I gave up trying to pick which one I would fit in better with and just went to sit in one of the larger empty chairs.
It was a loveseat meant for two but with my height It was around the right size for me, just too low. After I sat down, a new penguin came up to me and asked if I wanted anything to drink. He had a notched eyebrow on his left side.
I just asked for something sweet and citrusy. While I was thinking of that, I asked if he could go to ask the bartender from Broken Barrel what it was.
The guy was hesitant to go and after a second I realized why. "I have a rather striking figure, he wouldn't mistake me for someone else."
He thanked me for being understanding and left to retrieve my drink. I was just about to start planning my shopping list when one of the nobles approached me.
He wore a suit of orange and green, which emphasized his shoulders rather dramatically. He carried a crystal cane and wore a vibrant green top hat which matched his vest. The suit and hat were both accented with silver details.
He sat down on the couch across from me and tapped his cane on the ground rather loudly. "Ahem. Pardon me but I don't believe I am accounted for by someone of your stature. Where did you come from?"
One person in the furthest group from me let out a snicker. 'Ah yes, time to deal with the nobility now. From anime I know a heavy hand works better than a feather touch.'
"You gentlemen must be all men of god, no? Then you should have known that God's chosen 'Players' are entering the world. I am a player and I can comfortably call myself the strongest of them."
The noble's eyes opened slightly wider but other than that he made no signs of surprise. "I see, a Player. But that still doesn't explain why you are up here. It is rather obvious you have no clothes."
I decided against participating in this silly bout of words. I'm still 16 there is no way I'll win against an adult raised in this form of 'battle.' I pulled out the Alchemist Guild token and watched his eyes nearly pop out.
"My apologies, Honorary Earl. I did not realize you were a Platinum Member. Please enjoy any amenities, it is all on me." The man then joined his group once again.
