"Ugh! Why isn't there any Unranked creatures here?" A girl with dark brown hair that was slightly below her shoulders and brown round eyes, complained while surveying the surroundings. She was a beauty in her on right. The girl's name is Trixy Falco.
"Yeah, aren't we a little deep in the forest?" A boy with similar color of hair and eyes, followed her complaint. The boy also had the looks. His name is Troy Falco, Trixy's twin brother.
"You two, I'm having a bad feeling about this." The two of them looked at their companion, she have long black hair that reaches her waist paired with navy blue eyes. This girl was much more of a beauty than the other one. Her name is Leah Greyhound.
Trixy wore extremely light clothing and at her waist were two daggers. She was an assassin type Evolver. Meanwhile, her brother Troy, wore heavy armor while he holds a shield in his left hand and a sword in the other hand. He was the tanker of the group.
On the other hand, Leah wore a grey robe that almost reached the ground and in her hand was a staff.
The twins' caution rose up a notch when Leah said she was having a bad feeling about the situation. Leah's intuition was always 70/30, the 70 being she was right with what she was feeling. And the 30 was the times when she would get wrong.
That's why the twins took Leah's words seriously.
"It's fine, Leah. Then let's do it this, if we don't encounter any Unranked creature within the next 5 minutes, we'll call it a day and go home. Deal?" Troy suggested to Leah.
"... " Leah lowered her head a little and carefully weighed the pros and cons. "Five minutes."
The twins smiled at Leah. Because if she said no then they would have no choice but to immediately go home.
"How about we go a little deeper in to the forest?" Trixy suggested.
"... " Leah and Troy looked at her like she was an idiot; which she was! Who in their right mind would go deeper into the forest when they were just Unranked Evolver!?
They ignored what Trixy suggested and continued to walk and survey the surroundings. There was something wrong and they knew it.
The last time they were here, they would get ambushed every goddamned minute!
But now? The forest was quiet, like, really eerily quiet.
Although there was a slight uneasiness in their hearts, the group continued until they reached the 5 minutes mark.
"Times up, we should—!!" Leah was about to say something when they suddenly heard an explosion of some sort.
BOOOOM!
The three simultaneously looked towards where the explosion came from. It came from the deeper part of the forest.
"Hey isn't that explosion not far from us?" Troy was about to take a step forward when he felt someone grabbed his hand.
Trixy shakes her head at Troy, "Don't, we don't know what caused the explosion." Although Trixy said earlier that they should go deeper in to the forest, that was only her joking. She was not serious about going there at all.
"Come on Trixy, what if someone's fighting and needed help?"
"If someone needed help, do you think we could help? Think Troy! Think! They are in the deeper part of the forest! Which means they're fighting creatures above our level!" Trixy snapped at her twin. Although she wanted to help, they don't have the strength to face creatures that lurked there.
"Then Trixy, why do you think dad is strong? He told us his story didn't he? He's strong because he fought opponents stronger than him! Do you think we can get stronger this way? Huh?" Troy snapped back at his sister.
"You-!" Trixy was about the retort Troy for being stupid when Leah clapped her hands to get their attention.
The two turned their heads towards Leah with a questioning look.
"That's enough you two." Leah looked at them both in the eyes before continuing, "How about this, let's go take a look but we maintain a good distance. Is that good?"
Troy immediately agreed to it while Trixy didn't answer right away. She seemed to be lost in thought for a minute before looking at Leah and her twin.
"Fine."
"You're the best, sis!" Troy hugged Trixy before he sprinted towards where the explosion came from.
Leah and Trixy looked at each other and could only shake their head, before following Troy.
A minute later, they arrived close to where they felt the explosion came from.
But when they did, not far from them, they saw a 20ft or maybe longer Unranked Serpent that was on the ground not moving. Even though it was dead, the three still shivered at the sight of it.
They could see the skull of the snake caved in! And the most horrifying thing was that aside from it, there was no other wound that could be seen. Which meant this thing died in one blow!
"I-I told you we shouldn't have come here." Trixy whispered, panic could be heard in her voice.
Leah and Troy were both speechless at what they saw.
The thought of a stronger creature that could easily kill an Unranked Serpent of this size, freely roaming and could attack them at any given moment, made them tremble in fear.
"We are leaving." Leah firmly said, a tone that said she wouldn't take no as an answer.
So this was the reason why the forest was eerily quiet. A beast was on its move, that's why they must get out of here fast!
This time, Troy didn't protest and just nodded his head. The reason he came here was because he thought someone might need their help, however what greeted him was a dead Unranked Serpent that was killed in a single blow!
They took a step back and was about to leave when they heard an oppressive roar. That made them stood still on their feet.
ROOOOOOAAAAR!!!
Because they weren't the target of that powerful roar, they only got stunned in fear for a second. The three of them composed themselves before looking at each other and nodded.
After many years of being together, they gained a tacit understanding on what the other was thinking.
Leah and Trixy took a step back and turned around to leave, however they immediately stopped when they noticed Troy sprinted towards where the roar came from!
""That fucking idiot!"" Leah and Trixy angrily shouted.
What tacit understanding bullshit!
'That fucking Troy, I swear I'll beat him to death later!!' Trixy promised in her heart.
They both look at each other and nodded, they both dashed forwards and followed Troy's trail.
. . .
A few moments later, the Leah and Trixy arrived to where Troy was and both of them were confused to see that he was on his butt.
"Troy?" Trixy called out but her twin didn't seem to hear him.
Troy's body was shivering and droplets of sweat could be seen on his face. His trembling gaze didn't leave what was in front of him.
Seeing this, Leah and Trixy followed Troy's gaze. But when they saw what Troy was seeing, their legs wobbled and they also almost fell on the ground.
Six meters away from them, death was standing there.
"F-first Tier!" Trixy stuttered, there was great fear in her voice.
"... " Leah didn't say anything or more like she couldn't say anything because of fear.
ROOOAAAR!
The First Tier beast roared and this awoke them from their stupor because they saw it roared towards something.
They followed to where the First Tier beast aimed its roar. What they saw almost popped their eyes out of their socket.
They couldn't believe it! There were two humans fighting the First Tier beast!
One was a man with black hair and sharp eyes, whose half of his face down to his feet was covered in black semi-liquid like armor which had red linings that looked like veins. Although his face was covered, they could tell that the man was handsome.
The other one was a peerless beauty with short silver hair and was wearing a maid uniform.
And the most shocking thing was that both of them were at the Unranked Tier!
"We should help—!" Leah was about to say that they should lend them a hand when suddenly, the man was no longer there and the First Tier beast have replaced his position.
"Eh?" Leah, Trixy and Troy were stupefied. 'What happened?' They all thought.
BOOOOOOOOOOM!
Something crashed on the tree trunk not far from where the First Tier beast was.
They immediately turned their head and what they saw drained all the blood from their body.
The man's body was broken and his bones could be seen sticking out of his body. He coughed up a mouthful of blood before his body lifelessly fell to the side.
"W-what?" They couldn't believe it, the man died just like that? And the fear in their heart only grew.
"I'll FUCKING KILL—!" Their attention was caught by a distorted voice of a woman.
They turned their head and what they saw made their face paler than it already was.
The First Tier beast stabbed forwards using its claws and pierced the woman, the woman coughed up blood before losing her strength. The beast grabbed her unresisting body and roared at her face before throwing her body to side as it walked towards the man.
The fight was over, just like that.
They were wrong, this wasn't a fight. No. It was simply a massacre.
