--------------------------------------------------

"This is Valerie, Avan. Valerie, this is Avan, my son" said Avan's mother.

Avan was a kid of about 10. He had ocean blue hair just like his mother which was left loose and not combed giving him the playboy vibe. He was surprised to see the girl who was eight years older than him standing with the weakest body composure he had seen. She was wearing sleeveless and he could see that her palms were completely pitch black. Her eyes looked somewhere far, lifeless.

"Hi" hesitated Avan

she was silent.

His mother gave him a weak smile.

"Avan, Valerie here is a little shy of people. Don't let anyone see her and keep her company for me will you ?" asked his mother

Avan loves his mother more than anything. He always tries to help her in any way her possibly could. So, when his mother asked him to do something, he didn't hesitate even a little and cried.

"Yes amma"

His mother smiled and fixed his hair a little to give him a kiss on his forehead and tapped Valerie on her shoulders to assure her everything would be alright.

She has always been proud of her son and hoped he could heal Valerie.

Valerie didn't talk to anyone or do anything for the following days. She hadn't, for a week now and her already weak body of her's started to become less and less with flesh. It was concerning. She didn't speak with anyone. Avan tried his best to make her happy but all she seemed to do was stare in blank space.

Avan read the following day that nature would heal a broken soul so he brought her out to their garden. It was a beautiful climate. The sky was like a bed above with fluffy clouds as pillows. There were flowers of violet and pink that decorated the garden in full bloom. In the middle, there was a lake where the water dances. It is where the water lady resides. It is rare to see her dance but when she does all the beings, even the ones without life long to join her.

For the first time, Avan saw a shine in Valerie's eyes. Her dry eyes slowly became wet not allowing her to see the beauty that lay in front of her. She wiped her eyes to capture the beauty in front of her again.

*What kind of hell has she seen to make just a beautiful site to fill her* thought Avan.

So it went, every day Valerie would come out to the garden, sometimes on her own. Her eyes seem to have life only when she is looking out. She no longer stared at the ground but admired the limitless sky above her and felt the sunlight. After a long time, she felt something other than pain.

It was a full moon, the day the lake spirit showed her true beauty, the day Avan was waiting patiently to show Valerie. The night was set, the audience was ready. When the moon reached its peak in the sky, the lake spirit slowly emerged from the lake. She was all forms of water at once. Her dress was pale like a fog. Her hair was made of straight ice, a steam followed each and every moment of hers. The entire garden came to life. The music of drums filled the air, and animals and birds enjoyed themselves with the spirit. Valerie was no exception from the enchantment. She too danced with the spirit. The spirit noticed the broken soul and danced with her. Her first laughter made the celebration under the moonlight a festival.

Valerie had exhausted herself in the fun and fell down smiling trusting on to the grass. The water spirit lifted her up and laid her onto the bench that was nearby, gifting her a soft frost pillow to rest her head on and continued on with her dance. Before doing so, she glanced at Avan who now had stopped dancing to accompany her sister. It was truly a beautiful night.

The following day, she had a huge appetite and would complete plate after plate for breakfast. Avan was proud and his mother was glad.

"She has healed my queen "said the minister

"She is yet to completely heal and that day is not very far minister" she glanced proudly at her son.

"You made the right choice by leaving her to young prince Avan my queen" praised the minister.

She turned around to leave the room thinking

*He always fixed the things he didn't break. Like father like son*

she smiled and left the room.
