Chapter 4 - New world

Unlike dying, being reborn was a decently smooth process. Maybe it was just his fault for being hated by a god, but that last process felt like shit.

It was as if he just woke up from a great dream. Eventually like coming out of a dark tunnel his conscious spawned into existence, the child felt reborn.. well he was.

His immediate thought was one word. "Ren." That was his new name.

The second he noticed was a beautiful massive seven-tailed fox. It was pure snow white, it's fur looking so visibly soft he could almost feel it. It's striking silver eyes locked onto him, piercing him with boundless knowledge.

The beautiful fox tilted it's head at him, then its eyes traced down my body. It's majestic gaze pulled his down as well, and very evidently a lot of things about him had changed.

First and foremost, his body was littered with pure white fur, and paws.. he had paws.

'I knew it was stupid to think I would get reincarnated as a human, but a fox?'

However there was two other things than that.

The most notable was an amethyst mote aggressively swirling in front of him, as if trying to attack. The craziest part was it somehow actually inside his iris.

Ren had a small hunch as to why this was happening, he really wanted to confront this problem, but he was still confused as to why he knew his name was Ren. Until he looked slightly lower.

Dangling from his neck was a beautiful silver pendant, it was flat with complex patterns, hanging by a silky thread. In all addition to all that, a weird symbol was etched into the charm like thing. However he knew what it said, Ren.

Before Ren could process what was happening the white fox, whom he assumed to be his parent figure, jumped. And she didn't come down either...

'Did i.. Just get abandoned?'

It was also then Ren saw 7 other foxes, instead of adults like the other one, they were cubs, and pretty cute.

'Do I look like this too? I guess they're my siblings.'

Then, Ren looked up, and without the huge fox obstructing his vision, he could see the majestic night.

Vast constellations filled his sight, interlinking with each other in omniscent harmony, seemingly like the work of god. Another thing to notice was the celestial moon, it was silver, and without any blemish. But the most prominent thing about was it's size. It was absolutely massive. Ren wasn't sure if it was super close or just that much larger, hell it might have been further for all he knew.

He felt mesmerised, comparing the night sky in his previous world to this, was just.. implausible. It was like comparing the most exquisite possible meal to a drunk's puke. A divine entity that made him feel insignificant, truly in different world.

Ren had ignored most of the things happening right now, but something else forced his attention so he reluctantly ripped his gaze away.

Dozens of gleaming green eyes pierced through the darkness.

Ren wasn't able to see much because of the vast night, but with the green eyes illuminating the darkness, he immediately realised where he was.

A forest.

'This puts my previous parents in a good light, a feat i thought was impossible.'

The amethyst mist stopped trying to commit felony and froze up, it quickly dived into my eye.

'Wha-'

'YOU, DAMN YOU, I'LL SETTLE THIS WITH YOU LATER. GET THE HELL AWAY FROM THOSE SUICIDAL SNAKES.'

A shrilly childish voice resounded.

Ren was really having enough of listening to his intrusive thoughts and being cut off was not the nicest feeling, but he decided to suck it up since he was planning to do that anyway.

'But... I can barely move.'

'AGHHHH, I'M GONNA BECAUSE OF YOU IM GONNA DIE, *sniffle* just use your four legs dumbass, are you blind FOUR.'

Ren was now mourning for the loss of the other voice, as this one was infinitely worse, but he took its advice in the end.

He had been trying to move bipedal earlier, but he quickly caught the gist of being a quadrupedal being, moving with his han- paws. However taking a few stumbles was unavoidable.

'Hmm, your pretty smart, but if I die because of you i'll kill you.'

Ren ignored the voice's nonsensical remarks, but he memorised everything it said, some of it might be vital as she seemed to know what was happening. He decided it was a she as it's voice was simply too girly to be anything else.

The green eyes moved slowly. their concentration solely on me and the other cubs. They seemed wary and that in itself was sad and hopeful simultaneously, the former because they were scared of some cubs that could barely move, the latter for the chance they might run away.

Eventually however, they started to engage.

As if something triggered their instincts every pair of venomous green eyes lashed out like a wild whip. Their bodies were a poisonous purple with about seventy centimetres in lenth, they had the width of a pencil, however that size was enormous to Ren who was a newborn fox cub.

Ren started to complain, and it was a totally fine reaction.

'Where am i supposed to run, i'm surrounded on all sides?!'

'Good luck, staying alive! Remember i can't do anything because i'm ethereal, but don't die!'

'I wasn't counting it..'

Soon, the first snake lunged at Ren on his side, startling him. He tried to move, but because of his surprise he could only barely avoid it and stumbled in the process.

Ren's head hit the floor, he hurriedly rebalanced himself, on the contrary there was now double trouble with one purple snake on the front and another pair of green eyes on his right.

He accidentally glanced behind him, only to see his siblings even worse, in fact a weak-willed cub looked to already have fainted, it was being feasted on by multiple snakes. Sickly enough, this was good for Ren, as this would attract the snakes that might go for him.

Ren really wanted to run right now, as the chances of him ending up like his sibling was ever increasing.

He decided to move first, if he were to linger any longer more snakes would focus on him, he agilely dashed to the right of the front snake and sped in between them.

However the snakes were not dumb, and no matter what life form they are, it would have instincts.

They flanked Ren, mischievously hissing, their forked tounges happily flicking and as if a parallel thought between the two was ignited, they darted forward. Inwardly, they were grinning "the prey iss not very s~smart it seems."

Contrary to their belief, their theory was about to be flipped upside down, the Human wasn't the strongest creature, instead they held the medals for brains and cowardice.

Immediately after snake number one had it's thought, it brutally slammed into a rock and let out a venomous shrilly shriek.

Snake number two was panicked and confused, thankfully for him however, he would join his friend soon after, as his collision with the local tree wasn't something the average nurse could treat. He soon blacked out, leaving Ren with the distant hisses of the snakes.

If you're wandering how Ren did this? Well it wasn't too hard, he simply manipulated the trust in them, they thought following each other was safe, Ren simply took of sharp turns and dead ends.

However, something shocking happened.
