Adore stood there, dumbfounded at how big the three mice in front of her were compared to how they used to be, and they looked a little different as well. She wondered if this had something to do with her upgrade in magic circles, but she couldn't be sure. So, she decided to ask Twyla.
"Umm Twyla what happened, why are y'all so big." Said Adore
"Well, since we have so much mana. We evolved into a higher form of what we were based on the species that exist here." Said Twyla
This was still shocking to absorb even after the explanation she received, but it was quite informative, and it prepared her for when the other two mice woke up. So she took the information for what it was and went on with what she came there to do.
"Well I should be able to move you all in and out of my space freely now, so brace yourselves because once I leave I will be testing it out." said Adore.
"Yes master!!! " Said all the mice in unison.
This was very exciting for Adore. She would talk to her mice all the time, but they had never been able to respond back to her. Now that this was possible, she couldn't wait to do all the fun things that were possible in this world with them, whatever those things may be.
Also, she wondered how things would work in this world. Would she have to fight people in order to keep her mice safe? Were there more interesting, unseen species of mice to be found in this world? "There had to be," she thought. Twyla said that they turned into similar species that exist in this world in order to exist. That was her proof.
So now she had a reason to explore this world and become a "beast tamer," which is what magicians who collect beast companions in this world are called. Although she would only be collecting those that could be classified as mice, maybe she would get other beasts here and there.
But her main objective was mice, and learning enough about magic to protect herself, along with as much information she could gather about this world before just going out and exploring it all willy-nilly. She was going to take her time to prepare herself and explore her area for now.
Once she was out of her soul space, she practiced taking her beast companions out a couple of times and then commenced only taking out Twyla since she had the most information on this world.
From her, she learned a lot like there were dark magicians and regular magicians, as well as knights and dark knights. Dark magic happened to be the only magical book in the house she was inhabiting outside the basics. She did not mind this book, dark magic seemed way more promising, since it allowed her to keep her beast companions from dying by turning them into undead.
All the other perks that came with it were only secondary advantages to her, but to be able to use dark magic, she needed to curse her mana so that it would become black, which was supposed to be very painful, but she didn't mind.
The real problem was finding something with a power level equal to hers because, in order to curse herself, she had to do a ritual that required her to trap a soul equal to her power level after killing it violently and devouring its soul.
The reason she had to kill it violently was to ensure that it was a vengeful spirit before she went through with the ritual because vengeful spirits were cursed souls, meaning their souls were black. She needed a black soul in order to turn her mana black. It was either that or use the soul of an undead, but either way it went, it had to be on the same level of power as her. Now that she had become a two Circled Mage, she could assess the mana level of other living beings, which was very useful.
But she wouldn't be doing that anytime soon, so her best bet was to practice and become exceptional at casting magic so that this would be possible and fight lesser beasts whenever she could so that she could become adept at fighting beasts as much as she could.
She could still use dark magic, but at the cost of her life force, so until she became a Dark Mage, she needed to learn regular magic first. The only book available on regular magic was one for ice magic, for magicians who specialized in it.
A magician didn't have to specialize in one element, but some people had their preference, and that is where a specialization came into play. Specializing in a certain magic also helped magicians with their spell-casting abilities because when you practice one type of magic, your affinity with that element grows, and casting spells under your specialization and became easier.
Adore didn't know if she wanted to specialize in a certain element, but as the majority of the spell books in her house were water and ice spell books, she didn't really have a choice in the matter
So she went through the book and practiced the spells to her heart's content and went over them until she had them memorized by heart. It took a week of her time, and she made a couple of misspells and duds throughout the learning process before she fully memorized them all.
The whole book, along with other things related to her specialization in spirit summons, were 10 spells, potion ingredients, and artifact blueprints. All things she was going to reap benefits from, there were 3 artifacts, and 3 potions. She wanted to make all of these things as soon as possible.
The potions currently available for her to make were a mana potion, a healing potion, and a strengthening potion. As for the artifacts she wanted to make from the book, they were a mana necklace, a ring that enhances offense, and a bracelet that boosts agility.
Most of the ingredients for the potions she needed were already on hand, except for the strengthening potion. However, for that she needed the blood of a boar, tree bark, water stone dust, and a horn of a dirt beast, a big, moose-like creature that specializes in earth magic.
She didn't want to use her magical beast to fight, so she went over her offensive spells, just to be sure she didn't do any misspells to are duds.
"Water spike!"
SPLASH! BOOM!
Three spears of water formed in front of her and crashed into two trees, causing them to fall in front of her. "Ice coma!" she chanted, and the two trees turned blue and icy. Then she chanted another spell, "Shattering ice," and the trees shattered into thousands of ice shards in midair, raining down on her like snow.
I'm ready now!
