The world itself is set differently.
Over 1000 years ago, after a war that caused 80% of humanity been wiped out. What war? No one knows who was fighting for or for what reason.
The only thing that people that did survive, did the only thing that we humans can do. Rebuild for the first 50 years. And 200 years later, society managed to get back to where they all started with a few slight differences. Less population as there are new laws enlisted.
Within those 200 years, the scientists had created an advancing evolution formula with mutation cells that can speed up evolution with DNA slicing.
Test it out on a few animals, and they had managed to created something new.
A new race of humans; Animas.
The Animas had animal features as they're still appeared as humans. But thanks to the mutated cells, they had also managed to advanced their thought process, body strength and speed.
The first Animas race, Hares (rabbits), started to develop a brand new project. They had started to use the Advanced Evolution Formula in order to increase the Animas population.
The Hares brought deer or the Roes (deer) in to the next race to join the rest of us.
The Roes and Hares are still coming up on brand new ideas for any potential new race to create among the Animas. But they rule out any carnivore predators due to humans are already serve that purpose.
So they went with herbivore species, but they understood the purpose of the carnivores. So they're gonna keep their own population in check.
So when horses had served their purpose as humans had develop vehicles, so they're the next Animas to be added into this society. They're called Nays. They admit that they didn't know what to call them.
They wanted to create at least ten herbivore Anima race, and they already got three from the previous. As they're coming up with brand new Anima race, the three with Humans are talking about it and resource. They ruled out chickens and cows. As they're thinking of Extinct Species, and since they don't see any kind of result, they'll make them as a Anima. They stick with the three they got for a time being.
When it come to breeding, it backfired that only their own race can breed with one another as part of their previous animal DNA still intact while they got Human DNA mixed into it.
They can still have intimate nights with one another, but breeding is off the books to all interspecies couples.
And yes, they were problems with Humans dating Animas.
Interspecies Adoption is still a controversial topic.
One day, a Hare wanted to see what happen if a Human been used by the Advanced Evolution Formula.
At first, there's no side effects as human DNA slicing is part of the formula.
So as the year went by, and hundred of volunteers had taken the formula, it appears it had managed to withhold any illness back.
Many of the hospitals managed to use it to let cancer patients to fight back. It doesn't cure them, but let them live along.
Everything is fine until a couple years passed, the volunteer Humans are showing signs to what Animas called; Savagery.
The term came from that Animas event try it themselves as they went into savage themselves.
They have the strength of ten men. Develop lightning quick reflexes. Speed to rival the fastest Anima. But the trade off is their minds. They lose all sense of purpose, and start a rampage.
The Animas and Humans start their investigate the cause of the Savagery trait in the Advanced Evolution Formula.
Nothing came up, and this had became a baffled the science community ever since.
What became worst, is that the Advanced Evolution Formula armored convoy was struck by a private militia in order to use the AEF from an animal rights movement.
They wanted all of the other animals to be treated as equals, and since Humans can be one with the animals as they're under Savagery, since under that state, they're more animalistic. Back to the animal kingdom in proper.
This militia that attacked the convoy goes by; Anima Liberation Front.
What started from a gang war between the races then united to turned into a militia. They all went with Anima due of that Humans went from apes, to some of the Hares didn't like the idea but came to accept the fact. The Anima Liberation Front had been called global terrorist of any country.
Both North and South had both been united as one continent with some trade offs; Hawaii will be as a neutral country of its own with the other Oceania Islands since they had live centuries, even outlive the current lives of the mainland. Alaska had become a Canadian territory, and Cuba is also under the same state as Hawaii but the Latino Americans are still in debate on whether on keeping Cuba as an American Island.
Europe, Asia, Austrailia, and Africa seem to have their Continents been restored but Animas had managed to out populate the Human race as they're the dominant species with the Human Race being at 25%, one fourth of the other races. 25 for Herbivores, 25 for Carnivores, and the remaining 25 is from Savages.
Savages continue on being a problem and been turned into a drug with some modifications. Savages started to regain some intelligence as time go by, but only on their last year due to DNA slicing. Majority of the world had agreed to let the Intelligent Savages to let them live out their last year.
As the world itself had been reshape and reset, this is how the following world turned out by the majority; America has Humans; Asia and Africa has Herbivores; Europe and Austrailia are Carnivores.
From living in those Continents, the Animas had developed a certain love of the cultures. Even taken in and reintroduced those cultures religious aspects. They left the religious figures alone due to knowing that they were animals originally turned into Animas. So they accept how the religious figures are.
But like how great conflicts starts, it started with one person is trying to do good things. And from the ashes of old world teachings, a new war had started within the Animas. The Apex War, what they call it. Multiple Carnivore Animas had started more and more rapidly as they lead an all out assault to one another. Each side creating Savages after another in order to be what life is meant to be.
What truly started this war, nobody knows. Some say that it was religion that started it. Some wanting to retake some countries or downscale the country map size. Or even the most common trait, misunderstanding. But the Apex War had created new futuristic weapons as the world itself continue to grow to the point where everything is at where it all started.
Multiple parties are involve with the Apex War. As for the ALA, they seem to be the main cause of everything since they had stolen the original AEF, all of the members had been captured and been executed but some governments had allowed a hand full of the members to live as they'll be going through a trial for their escape.

An Indigenous young man is being sent to a prison, via airplane who ended up watching a documentation of the Apex World.
One of the prison guards of One of the Seven Terraces Rehabilitation Program, is reading the profile the young man.

He slightly bobble his head. "I don't think so. Being placed in the Seventh Circle was a bit much, but he did survive one year in it with the most violent criminals."
"So..." One of the Animas is reaching out a hand like they're asking for something.
"I'll put one thousand on him to survive." He placed it in their hands, then reveal a betting pool of all Seven Terraces with thousands prisoners are making their way into the Savage Isles. "It is a rehabilitation program, and in order to reach to Paradise, they need to go through one day in the Terrace."
