Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Awakening of the Strings

The air was thick with the tension of battle, my agile steps moving gracefully as I locked eyes with my instructor. My motions flowed, each strike and parry an extension of my determination. A week had passed since the beginning of my training, and I was about to put my newfound knowledge to the test.

My instructor appeared calm, though a glint of anticipation danced in his eyes. "Show me what you've learned, Valdorin."

And so, the duel began. Steel swords danced through the air, each attack met with precision. My determination outweighed the fatigue, my movements gaining in speed and finesse. In a decisive moment, my strike broke through his defense and touched his shoulder. The duel was over.

He let out a laugh, acknowledging my victory. "A week, and you've already surpassed me, Valdorin. You are remarkable."

I gazed at the sky, pondering how time seemed to bend around me. "It's not just physical strength. It's the will to progress."

My instructor approached my parents, who watched with pride. "Mr. and Mrs. Marlow, your son is a class B swordsman. There's nothing more I can teach him."

My mother and father exchanged nervous glances. Such a statement was surprising, a confirmation of my potential. Yet, I felt a twinge of disappointment as I yearned to learn more.

While my parents discussed in hushed tones, something shifted within me. A resolution, an acceptance of my true self. I had pretended to be weak, used that facade as a shield. But that charade had come to an end. I was tired of hiding my true power, of pretending to be less than I was.

In my mind, I unraveled the magic that had always intrigued me: the fundamental strings of reality. They manifested around me, invisible to the eye yet tangible to my will. I felt connected to every fiber of the universe, to every string weaving reality. And I knew I was invincible.

My instructor noticed the change in me, and his eyes widened as I moved toward him. "Valdorin, what are you..."

I raised my hand to the air, my voice resonating with an authority that was new to me. "Halt, instructor."

He froze in place, his expression a mix of surprise and shock. This was my power, a power I was unwilling to hide. Within my mind, I realized I was invulnerable as long as my will remained strong.

"Valdorin, what is this?" my parents asked, their voices laden with concern.

I smiled, yet didn't reveal the true extent of my power. "It's just a new technique I've learned."

Master Alistair regained his composure, a wry smile on his lips. "Valdorin, I think we have more to discuss than I anticipated."

He turned to my parents. "Mr. and Mrs. Marlow, I advise you to consider an option. Your son has great potential; perhaps he should enroll in the Metrin School."

My parents exchanged glances, a silent understanding passing between them.

"Instructor, do you think this is a good idea?" my father asked, worried.

He nodded sagely. "The Metrin School is the finest school of magic and swordsmanship in the Kingdom of Eldoria. There, Valdorin can develop his talents and learn to control his power properly."

The words resonated in my mind, a path I knew I must tread. I gazed at the sky with determination, raised my hand high, and vowed to myself that I wouldn't be the weakling I once was. I would conquer this realm, but not as a tyrant – as a protector. The world was about to witness the true power of Valdorin.
