Alisha pov
Alexander and I are walking side by side in a park. It was early evening, and there were a lot of people in the park. Most of them are couples, some children are playing and some old people are walking. After walking for a while, we sat on a bench.
"Did I do something wrong?" he asked out of the blue, and I looked at him confused.
"Why did you ask that?" I asked. He rubbed the back of his neck and said,
"Well, you seem to be mad at me. So, did I do something?"
I was stunned for a second. Am I that easy to read? Yes, I am mad, but it's something that I want to hide. I know I will be restless until I get the clarification, but I am not finding a way to ask him about the things that keep bugging me. I guess it's the right time, or else it might lead to some other complications. I mustered up my courage and said,
"I am not mad, but there is something that I want to know."
"What is it?"
"Why didn't you reply to my text?" I asked, and he seemed to be taken aback by my question, but then he chuckled.
"So that's why you are angry at me."
"I'm not-."
"Well, I'm happy that you are mad at me. Because people only get angry at the one they have affection for," he said, looking at me with a smirk on his lips. He leaned toward me and whispered,
"Should I take it as you having feelings for me?"
He is teasing me. I pouted and pushed him away from me gently. I avoided his question and said,
"You haven't answered my question."
"I had a pile of work to handle, which I was neglecting; that's why to make me finish my work Aaron took away my phone. And no matter how many times I told him to give it back to me, he didn't. He only gave me my phone back after I completed all the documents. And when I saw your message, I came to you right away." I frowned and looked at him, then asked,
"Why would he take your phone to make you do your work?"
It's funny how Aaron took away his phone just to make him work, but what does his phone have anything to do with the work? He chuckled nervously and said,
"Well, instead of working, I was staring at my phone the whole time and was thinking about whether to message you or call you."
I let his words sink into my mind. When my mind completely processed his words, I blushed, a smile broke onto my lips, and I looked away from him. So, I was in his mind all the time.
"Are you still mad at me?" he asked, and I shook my head as a sign of no.
"This won't happen again. I promise," he said.
"Okay," I said.
We sat there silently, looking at people. A silence was supposed to be awkward, but with him, the silence seemed to be comfortable. We don't have to talk. Just being beside each other can be enough. And it was the first time I had ever felt that someone's presence alone was enough. I was angry at him the whole day, but when I saw him, my anger just vanished. Well, after the reason he gave me, how can I stay angry? But was I only angry? No, I was scared more than angry.
Scared that perhaps he didn't want me anymore. I want to tell him everything about me, but I'm afraid that he will leave me when he gets to know everything about me. I want to be with him, but I can't be with him with those feelings. Feelings of constant fear that he will leave me. So, I'm taking baby steps toward him. But how am I going to deal with my insecurities? How long will it take? What if he gets tired of waiting for me? I flinched when a hand touched my forehead. I looked at the owner of the hand. And found Alexander looking at me worriedly, and his finger rubbing my temple gently.
"Are you okay? You look pale," he asked, and his big, warm hand slid into my cheek and stroked it. I lean into his touch.
"I'm okay," I said, and smiled at him.
"Is something bothering you? Tell me if anything or anyone is bothering you," he said. I chuckled and said,
"Don't worry, nothing is bothering me."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. But what if something really bothers me? What are you going to do?" I asked, but the answer he gave me wasn't what I was expecting.
"I will destroy it," he said deadly, looking straight into my soul to convey that he meant it.
"What?" I asked, suddenly feeling breathless.
"I will destroy anything or anyone for you, and if you want, I would even destroy the world just for you," he said in his hoarse voice, making my heart beat to a rhythm I didn't know it could ever beat.
"I would do anything for you, anything," he whispered. And oddly, I believe that he would really do it. We kept our eye contact and totally forgot that we were in a public place.
"Alexander," I said.
"Hmm."
"Will you really wait for me to become yours?"
"Yes."
"Then please wait for me a little more." he smiled and said,
"I will, till my last breath and even after death." This sounds so dark, but I love it.
My phone suddenly buzzed, and it made us come out of our world. I moved away a little from him when I noticed how close I was to him. I saw some people glancing at us, and it made me feel uncomfortable. But they looked away when Alexander glared at them. I took out my phone from my bag and saw it was my mom. I received the call and said,
"Mom,"
"Darling, are you still in class?"
"No, Mom, the class has ended. I will be heading home now."
"Okay."
"Did something happen?"
"No, I was just worried about you."
"I'm fine, Mom."
"Okay, come home safely."
"Okay, Mom," I said and cut the call.
My mom's time of interrupting is really something. I looked at him, and saw him staring at me. I bit my lips and said,
"I need to go." he chuckled and said,
"Again."
"I'm sorry," I said. He stood up, extended his hand, and said,
"It's okay. We will have a lot of time later. For now, let's go. I will drop you off at home. We can't make my mother-in-law worry about you."
I knotted my eyebrows in confusion. I grabbed his hand and stood up, then asked,
"Who is your mother-in-law?"
"Aurora hart," he said, like, it's a matter of fact.
Wait, isn't it my mother's name? Finally getting what he meant, I blushed, bit my lips to stop myself from smiling, and said,
"She is not your mother-in-law."
"She will be soon," he said with a teasing smile.
"You are crazy," I said, and started walking. I heard him laugh, and then in a moment, he was beside me, and he said,
"Only for you,"
My face, which was already red, became redder. This man will be the end of me. We walked to his car and went inside it. As we were heading toward my home, I wanted to ask him about himself. I want to know more about him. But I don't know what or how to ask. After contemplating for a while, I decided to ask him the most basic question.
"What is your favorite color?" Will he think I'm stupid?
"Black," he replied, and I nodded. Then what?
"What is your birth date?" Seriously girl?Another stupid question? Who asks people this?
"Seventh November, nineteen ninety-five," he said.
"You are seven years older than me," I said in shock. He smiled and said,
"Yes, I am, butterfly."
I knew that he was older than me, but I didn't think it would be seven years. On second thought, of course, he would be. He has graduated and is now running a company. I don't know why I am even asking him those basic things when I could find them on the internet. He never asked me those things. Maybe he doesn't want to know, or maybe he already knows. And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if he did know.
"Next," he said, and I tilted my head in confusion.
"Next?" I asked.
"Your next question, butterfly."
"I will ask more later," I said, but honestly, I don't know what to ask.
"You can ask me anything you want to know, okay?" he said, and I nodded.
We arrived at my house, and he stopped the car in front of my house. I muttered a thank you for driving me home and was about to open the car door, but he stopped me by grabbing my wrist. I looked at him, confused. He left my hand and took something from the backseat. He held out a box of chocolate and said,
"For you," I looked at it and again looked at him, but I didn't take it.
"You love chocolate. So, I bought them for you. Please, take it." he said, giving me puppy eyes.
Damn, he looks so cute. Where did the cold CEO go? I do love chocolate, but if any other man had given it to me, I would have rejected it. But since it's him and he is looking at me like this, how can I reject him? I took the box and said,
"Thank you." He looked delighted that I took it.
I bid him goodbye and got out of the car. He waited until I got to the door, and when I opened the door, he drove away. I went inside and closed the door. I made my way to my room but stopped when I saw Mom in the living room. She looks quite serious. Did I come too late? I went to the living room and said conscientiously,
"I'm home." She looked at me and asked,
"Who is that man, Alisha?"
My eyes widened in shock and my heart jumped into my mouth. Did she see him? OMG, I am DOOMED.
