Chapter 172 - Chapter 169 : Cost of Correcting Mistakes!!

Nobunaga walked carefully over the dead branches, leaves, and muddy puddles on the ground, his eyes locked on the figure speeding by in the train car.

"Germain's speed is incredible. Uvogin and I are Enhancer, but we can't catch up with him, a Conjurer."

"This guy is becoming more and more like a monster... Damn it, what kind of person did Chrollo and Machi recruit?"

The scene before him shocked Nobunaga even more. This traitor who had infiltrated their Phantom Troupe was indeed more troublesome than he had thought. No wonder he managed to kill Phinks and Feitan one after another.

At least these records wouldn't be false.

Nobunaga reminded himself to stay alert when dealing with Germain and not to get distracted.

What he didn't know was that Germain's current physique was already at the master level. His physical fitness was amazing. His speed rivaled Feitan's, but his strength was slightly less than Uvogin's.

In a way, Germain was also an Enhancer now.

Of course, Germain's physique couldn't compare to Chairman Netero's after years of training.

Uvogin continued chasing with big strides on the roof of the train, making a loud thud every time he landed. He tried to provoke Germain inside the carriage, but when that failed, he turned to Nobunaga.

"Nobunaga, you need to find a way to stop him. The chase won't end!"

Nobunaga shouted back, "Do you think I don't know? If I could, I'd love to chop him in the back or cut off his legs..."

"Uvogin, stop talking nonsense. Keep an eye on him, and don't give him a chance to pull any tricks!"

As Nobunaga ran, he spotted a large forest ahead. The trees were lush and leafy, with some branches trimmed so they wouldn't grow onto the train tracks.

He swung his sword, a flash of silver light cutting through the air as he sliced through two large trees standing side by side. They fell with a loud crash, landing on the other side of the mountain.

With the dense branches and leaves cleared away, Nobunaga gained a better view, allowing him to see farther and wider.

Nobunaga noticed a large group of panicked passengers rushing out of the carriages behind him. They were bringing their families and luggage, anxiously hiding in the nearby bushes.

A stream of people formed briefly between the train tracks and the thick forest.

"Tsk, there are so many people blocking the way," Nobunaga thought, feeling dissatisfied.

The back half of the train had stopped on the tracks, so if the passengers could regain their composure and calm down, they would figure out how to escape and avoid being caught up in this horrific massacre.

These passengers didn't know what had happened on the train or what the criminals wanted, but they knew they just needed to run.

However, Nobunaga remembered that Chrollo had hired a man named Genthru and his two companions to handle the rear carriages.

Nobunaga frowned.

Did those three fail to control the situation?

They are really useless...

He shook his head. He had always been unhappy with Chrollo's choice to let such people join the "Phantom Troupe."

Seeing the current situation only confirmed his belief that Chrollo had made another wrong decision, leading to a very troublesome "oversight."

Why "again"?

It's simple. His last three mistakes were allowing Hisoka to join, letting Germain join, and deciding to meet with both Hisoka and Germain at Stonehenge.

If Chrollo had made the right call in any one of those three mistakes, today's situation wouldn't have happened.

Nobunaga wasn't disappointed or angry with Chrollo. After all, he was analyzing the situation based on the outcome and hadn't noticed any clues before the betrayal occurred.

He just felt that Chrollo was human, after all, and couldn't always make the right choices. Now, he needed his companions to help correct his mistakes.

However, the cost of "correcting mistakes" was too high now—Phinks, Kortopi, Bonolenov, Franklin, Feitan...

Nobunaga and Uvogin had decided they needed to end everything here. If they didn't, Germain and his allies would only gain more power. Plus, there was the greedy Hisoka watching them.

Nobunaga thought, I wonder if Chrollo has taken care of Hisoka yet? He tried to keep his thoughts focused on the battle ahead.

The "Bomb Trio" that Chrollo had hired at a high price couldn't control the situation behind them and might even interfere with his fight against Uvogin. So, Nobunaga felt he had no choice but to clean up their mess.

There really was no other way.

At that moment, more passengers rushed out of the carriage, many staring at Nobunaga in confusion as he stood there dressed like a samurai.

Nobunaga sheathed his long sword while running, then paused, adopting the Iai Slash stance. He drew the blade again, its silver light shining like a crescent moon.

In an instant, a wave of slashing energy shot out!

The passengers didn't have time to react as they were struck by the crescent-shaped attack one after another.

Chi chi chi chi—

In the blink of an eye, the taller people were sliced in half from the shoulders up, and the heads of those of average height flew off.

Only the short children or dwarfs managed to escape! A thick mist of blood filled the air, mingling with the horrified screams of those left behind.

It didn't matter how the warrior did it. What mattered was that he was the devil bringing death!

The crowd instantly fell into chaos, like a swarm of ants scattered in panic, fleeing in all directions.

Nobunaga didn't even spare a glance at the man he attacked, simply slitting the throat of the screaming victim.

He swung his long sword with incredible speed, the wind from his strikes sweeping away all the blood—none of it touched him.

In terms of swordsmanship, Nobunaga's style could truly be called an "art."

He charged into the sea of corpses and blood, facing the second group of passengers.

The second group realized that another killer was among them. As they panicked, they rushed into the woods.

Only a fool would stay behind and plead for mercy.

As expected, everyone who begged for mercy was swiftly killed by Nobunaga with a single sword strike!

Nobunaga kicked the severed head away and moved on with an indifferent expression.

"It's astonishing. In a place like Meteor City, with over 8 million people, most are powerful individuals who don't value their lives."

"Among the billions scattered across the six continents, those who surrender are the majority. I see no courage in them at all."

"Is it because they have ample resources that they've grown soft and complacent? Don't they understand the need to struggle and resist?"

"As it stands, this world shouldn't be handed over to such people but should belong to the people of Meteor City. They deserve more and a better environment."

The head rolled to the ground, and Nobunaga was briefly distracted by a clanking sound.

A silver chain swung from the side!
