Chapter 121 - Chapter 123 : Initiation!!

A few hours later.

The sun was shining outside the window, casting a warm, soothing light across Germain's room. The sunlight created a comforting warmth that filled the space.

Kurapika woke up early, dressed in his freshly dried Kurta clothes, and went back to Germain's room.

Instead of starting the training right away, Germain invited Kurapika to join him for breakfast.

"It's going to be quite demanding," Germain said. "You should eat as much as you can now, or you might not last until noon and will need to eat again."

Kurapika, having agreed to the conditions, complied without hesitation and took a seat at the table.

Far from being bothered by the prospect of an intense session, Kurapika was actually looking forward to it. He hoped that through this training, he could undergo a significant transformation, and Germain's instruction might just be the key.

After enjoying a breakfast brought by room service, Germain asked Kurapika to grab his suitcase. They checked out and took a taxi to the suburbs.

Germain casually chose a mountain for their training, saying, "Let's use this mountain. It's just basic training after all."

They climbed to the top of the mountain, where the area was flat with only a few trees scattered around, resembling a Mediterranean landscape.

Germain then asked, "By the way, what brings you to Itlo City?"

Kurapika set down the suitcase, pulled out a hard wooden sword from behind him, and replied, "I heard there was a sword master here, so I planned to seek his lessons."

"But now, I don't think that's necessary," he added honestly.

He wasn't dismissing the sword master's skill, but he realized that no matter how skilled the master was, he was still within Kurapika's current understanding. Germain, on the other hand, was different.

The ability to instantly take out thirteen people on an airship was something a master swordsman couldn't easily achieve, but for Germain, it seemed like a relatively simple task.

Kurapika was convinced there had to be more to it.

"Oh, I understand," Germain said, recognizing that Kurapika was always looking for ways to strengthen himself during his travels.

Kurapika once used twin swords, but he gave them up later because of his deep connection to chains. This change reflects his shift in mindset—from using violence to restraining and punishing with chains.

"Since you brought up swordsmanship, I'll use my sword to awaken you."

Germain stood before Kurapika, his voice cold and muffled by the bird-beak mask.

He extended his hands as if holding a sword, but there was nothing visible between them.

"A 'sword'?" Kurapika was confused, not seeing any weapon in Germain's hands.

Kurapika remembered that on the airship the previous day, Germain had used a strange weapon that seemed to transform between a cane, a sword, and a whip, but it had vanished and wasn't in his hands now.

Where did this "sword" come from?

Germain couldn't physically cut with a "Cleaver" or stab with a "threaded cane," but he focused his "Nen" to form the shape of a samurai blade.

Since it wasn't a physical object, Kurapika couldn't see the "sword" in Germain's hands.

"Next, I'll use my sword to forcefully awaken all your 'Aura' Nodes known as Initiation. It's a dangerous method, but much faster than usual."

"If you accept my 'sword,' you'll understand 'Nen' and be able to advance to mastering 'Hatsu (Nen Ability).'"

Germain raised his hands high and adjusted his stance.

"Are you ready?"

Without hesitation, Kurapika dropped his twin swords, stepped forward, and calmly accepted Germain's "sword."

"I'm ready."

Germain struck down with intensity, and the "Nen" enveloped Kurapika completely, causing his body to tremble.

In the next moment, all of Kurapika's "Aura Nodes" opened, and "Aura" began to flow out continuously. He could also feel the "Aura" in the air.

"This is 'Nen'..." Kurapika looked at his hands, feeling a profound shock.

This unique sensation... I've entered a whole new world!

"You're just beginning," Germain said. "I'll start by teaching you the basics of 'Ten' so you don't exhaust yourself quickly."

"Is it because my 'Nen' is constantly flowing out?" Kurapika, being perceptive, immediately understood.

"Yes," Germain confirmed. "Let's begin."

Over time, Germain gradually taught Kurapika the technique of "Ten," and Kurapika eagerly absorbed the knowledge.

However, as Kurapika learned more about "Nen abilities," he grew more troubled.

"What's wrong?" Germain noticed Kurapika's unease. "Aren't you excited about learning "Nen "? Why do you look so down?"

Kurapika paused and didn't try to hide his feelings.

"The more I learn about "Nen," the more I realize how much further you are ahead of me. I was naive to think I had no knowledge or experience with "Nen."

"And the strength of the Phantom Troupe members is likely similar to yours. They've had years of experience. I guess that's to be expected."

"But even if I train hard, it will take years before I can stand a chance against them. This is the reality I have to face."

Kurapika sighed softly as he spoke.

"You have a clear understanding," Germain said, "but there's one thing I need to correct."

"In battles between Nen users, only if the power difference is overwhelming will the outcome be decided quickly. Like when I dealt with the gangsters on the airship."

"Besides that, it's possible for the weaker one to defeat the stronger one. What's crucial is timing, the right environment, and especially how well your "Nen Types" matches your own Nen abilities."

Kurapika's eyes lit up. The "Nen Types" was a new concept to him. He realized that "Ten" couldn't fully explain the abilities shown by Germain and the "Nen Exorcist."

"Excuse me, what is the "Nen Types"?"
