Mage Demon Hand's name was inspired by her bloodline. Even though mages are unable to use their bloodline spells, the bloodline still has some effect on one's combat power.
In the case of Mage Demon Hand, her peculiarity is that after long battles, her right-hand transforms into a demonic hand. This phenomenon has been researched in depth. Some magicians have peculiarities like this; usually, it is not considered a big problem. In fact, it is the opposite; her demonic hand, for example, helps her cast spells much quicker. It increases her fighting power slightly, but in close battles, even a little difference can mean a lot.
Some might underestimate the 'Little' effect of bloodline peculiarities, but among mages, every bit of power can be life-saving; Master Demon's hand's bloodline peculiarity, therefore, makes her one of the stronger magicians out there.
Master Book Scholar has no such bloodline peculiarity. Most mages don't have it, with only about one in ten mages having a bloodline peculiarity. Some unfortunate mages can develop dangerous bloodline peculiarities, also known as mutations.
Mutations are much rarer than bloodline peculiarities and can be very dangerous. Those with bloodline mutations may have to live under supervision their whole lives, completely unable to live 'normally.'
In some cases, once discovered, they might be imprisoned or even euthanized.
However, there are two sides to a coin. Some lucky mages can develop helpful bloodline mutations. It is widely accepted that Master Max's amazing strength was due to his very powerful bloodline mutation, although details are absolutely top secret.
Master Demon Hand looked at Mike's face with interest and said, "Have you ever seen the world outside the walls?"
Mike frowned and said, "Only in books. Otherwise, how could I possibly see outside the Great Wall? I asked Master Book Scholar to take me, but he refused without considering it," Mike complained about his history teacher.
"Brat! How can you expect a simple history teacher to take you outside the Great Wall? Have you any idea how dangerous it is?" Mage Book Scholar shook his head disapprovingly.
The Area inside the Great Wall is completely incomparable with the outside; once outside, demons are not a rare sight. Even though the mage book scholar is not weak, he is not strong enough to guarantee Mike's safety. In fact, very few can go out alone; most times, they form groups of at least 12 people.
"Hahahahaha, don't worry! I will take you! I am going on an inspection mission in a few days; you can come with me if you want!" said Master Demon Hand, laughing carefree.
"Isn't it dangerous? I have heard the southern Great Demonic City has been unstable these days!" Master Book Scholar said worriedly.
"I know! But on this mission, we are guarded by the 10th Army. Mage Shining Light is also coming. With her guarding, nothing will go wrong!" Master Demon Hand smiled.
"She is guarding an inspection mission? In that case, there should be no problem," Master Book Scholar said, relieved.
"Who is Mage Shining Light?" asked Mike. He knew the names of powerful mages in most armies but had never heard about Shining Light.
"There is a reason you haven't heard of her name. She is a red demon born. She had a very hard life, being in a crisis from her birth. Fortunately for our human civilization, she made it through and became one of the most powerful mages. However, her appearance is infected by demonic features. It was decided to keep her existence a secret because if they were to publish her appearance, it would have terrified those who saw her."
"However, she is one of the kindest mages you will find. You can trust her more than your parents," said Master Demon Hand.
"I see," Mike nodded, looking forward to seeing her.
"I will come to get you in three days. Farewell!" Master Demon Hand said this and disappeared.
Mike could only sigh; he really wanted to learn a teleportation spell, but he was not old enough.
"Let's go! I will get you some items that would help," Said master mage Book scholar.
...
In the three days Mike had, he asked his teacher to gather anything he might need outside the walls. His master gritted his teeth, bought many items, and started teaching him how to use them.
The first and most important item was a spell crystal of "High-Speed Regeneration." As long as one's body isn't completely destroyed, this spell can recover the target to their full health.
The next item was called Fixed Teleportation, which teleports the caster to a prefixed location.
Other items included a storage ring, a Great Invisibility Spell, an absolute Wind Shield Spell, and many others.
The great invisibility spell is a high-grade spell that can make the target invisible; it even works against mature demons.
The storage ring is the most useful item; one can place one's belongings inside; it is extremely light and is a necessity.
The windshield spell is a high-grade spell that can repeal attacks of mature demons, and it basically translates into one extra life.
Master Book Scholar taught Mike about each. Finally, after three days, Master Demon Hand came, picked Mike up, and disappeared.
...
"This is the headquarters of the 10th army. It is one of the safest places in the whole world, guarded by magicians from all sides," said Master Demon Hand.
"Eli! Long time no see!" a woman with a scarf on her head that completely covered her arrived. From time to time, rays of golden light leaked from under the scarf.
"Rose! How are you?" Master Demon Hand went forward and hugged Mage Shining Light. The two knew each other well, as evidenced by how they called each other.
Mages usually only call each other by their mage names. If a mage calls another mage using their first name, that signals the two are very close.
Mike secretly looked at Mage Shining Light's face. He couldn't see anything, but unknowingly, he felt something terrifying was creeping up on his back.
"Who is this young man?" asked Mage Shining Light as she looked at Mike.
Mike felt creepy under her gaze, as if a snake was crawling on his back. Still, he didn't show anything on his face. Master Demon Hand told him about this; to prevent disrespecting Mage Shining Light, Mike was specifically told not to show any reaction.
"I am Mike, a student of Mage Book Scholar. I heard about your great achievements, especially in the southern skirmish that happened ten years ago. My biggest desire is to be able to achieve one percent of your contributions to humanity!" Mike said a practiced line. He was trying to leave a good impression.
Mage Shining Light smiled and said, "Don't talk about it! I only did my duty!" Then she turned to Mage Demon Hand and asked, "You are taking him to see outside?"
Master Demon Hand nodded and said, "You guessed right. He is extremely talented. Letting him see the world outside at a young age would be very good for his mental state!"
"No problem! Just go to that tent; we'll move in a few hours," said Mage Shining Light before leaving. She had a lot of work to do.
"Let's go," said Master Demon Hand; she was familiar with the process.
...
Exactly after three hours, Mage Shining Light, along with twelve other mages, Mike and Master Demon Hand started marching toward the southern gate. The southern gate of the Great Wall was guarded intensely by the 50th defensive army. As Mage Shining Light and her group neared the southern wall, they cast a 'code' spell. The area near the gates is protected; anyone nearing it would be directly killed. To be able to reach it, the only way is to know the daily 'code.' As long as one casts this spell, they would be allowed to reach the gate. Mage Shining Light and her team walked to the gate without any issues.
Mike was not very impressed. The wall was only 15 meters long, but it was covered in a purple aura. Obviously, it didn't just cover the ground; its protection extended even to the sky.
"This wall should be around the energy level of the divine soul stage. While impressive, it isn't much compared to my previous life. It looks like the upper limit of power in this world is much lower than in the previous world," thought Mike.
"What do you think?" asked Mage Demon Hand.
"It's unbelievable! To think that humanity is capable of making such an immense structure is incomprehensible." He pretended to be awed.
"Of course, this is the power of Master Max; he was the one who made it come to reality!" Master Demon Hand sighed.
...
The group moved forward and, after about half an hour, finally entered the gate. After a few minutes, they confirmed their identity. The gate was opened a crack, and Mage Shining Light and her group passed through.
