Violet Nelson opened the door to her room and threw herself into the arms of the old madam, sobbing, "They say I'm just an outsider residing in the Presidential Palace, of low status, unworthy of marrying Zeke Lawson!"
As soon as she spoke, the expressions of those outside the door varied.
The identity of the president's niece was still considered low? Then what would be considered high enough...the president's own daughter?
Enraged, the old madam demanded, "Who said that? Who dares to speak so? Rieste? Just a lawyer, and he thinks too highly of himself!"
Old Master Simonson comforted the crying Violet Nelson, "Stop crying. If Zeke Lawson doesn't marry you, it's his loss."
"Zeke Lawson is willing to marry me, but his parents and Uncle Rieste..." Violet choked up, "They say I have no parents and no maternal family to support me. Bringing me into the family would be of no help to Zeke in the future..."
