Purple Summers smiled, her eyes calm as water.
She didn't continue to entangle the topic of compensation, but instead asked with a smile, "I heard Aunt Jade was just promoted to prosecutor?"
Jade Carlson's face eased slightly, thinking that Purple must be afraid of her. Kids always have a natural awe of professions like police and prosecutors.
She liked Purple's awe and gently advised in a soft tone, "Purple, I'm a prosecutor, and I know the laws and regulations best. Continuing to pursue this won't be good for you. Take the money and buy whatever you want, or go to school. It's better for the family to get along peacefully. Aunt Jade is saying this for your sake."
Purple didn't say anything, just continued to smile.
If she had said something, Jade could at least respond, but her inscrutable smile made Jade increasingly annoyed.
