Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 Today is the 15th

Suddenly, a "puff" of laughter came from behind.

Eve Thompson's body stiffened, and when she turned around, she saw Uncle Lee unexpectedly standing behind her, unable to hold back his laughter.

It seemed that he had heard their entire conversation.

Eve Thompson: ...

The Charlie family's car mysteriously stalled and could not find a reason. Shortly after Eve got out of the car, the car mysteriously started again. The housekeeper asked the driver to catch up with Miss Thompson, and they arrived at the Thompson house.

Looking at Eve, the housekeeper saw her head lowered, as if the words just spoken had nothing to do with her.

For a moment, no one spoke.

Uncle Lee could only cough before speaking, "Miss Thompson."

Eve looked up.

"I'll pick you up at the same time tonight."

Eve raised her eyebrows, wondering why he would pick her up.

Housekeeper: "Today is the 15th."

Eve's eyelashes trembled slightly.

When she heard the first and fifteenth days, she breathed a sigh of relief, thinking they could tolerate two days a month. But today was the 15th? Thinking about last night... she felt her legs were still weak.

But she knew very well, just like last night, she could not refuse. She had to find a way to make Anthony Charlie hurry up and get engaged to her.

-

Jonas Thompson personally sent Uncle Lee away, acting obsequious the whole time, making Eve nauseous.

When the car left, Jonas turned around, laughing and praising, "What a worthy daughter of mine!"

Ava White clenched her fists at her side, her eyes filled with hatred. She asked anxiously, hanging onto Jonas's arm, "Iris, why didn't Mr. Charlie mention anything about the engagement?"

Eve squinted her eyes.

This Ava White had caught on to the essential point, proving she was not an ordinary person.

As she remained silent, Ava sighed again. "Men have their flaws. Many of them will abandon you after they've had enough. Mr. Charlie shouldn't be that kind of person, or else you'll suffer."

Ava appeared to be worried about her but was reminding Jonas of the difference in treatment between a mistress and a fiancée.

Jonas's gaze changed, examining Eve.

Looking down, Eve said, "Mr. Charlie said that the engagement involves many aspects and would discuss it later."

Jonas's eyes deepened.

Originally, he wasn't in a hurry. Once they were engaged, the Thompson family would have all the resources they wanted.

But now it seemed that Mr. Charlie might have taken a fancy to her out of curiosity. But, how could the Charlie family marry such a freak? Wouldn't they be ashamed?

Jonas narrowed his eyes, stepped forward, and handed Eve a document. "This is our company's new project. We plan to cooperate with Charlie Group. I mentioned it to Uncle Lee just now. When you see Mr. Charlie tonight, coax him into signing the contract."

It was most important to secure the benefits first.

Jonas patted her shoulder, "You are Jonas Thompson's daughter. Your father won't let you down when our family is doing well."

Eve sneered in her heart.

Just before, he had wanted to kick them out penniless, and now he acted as if everything was fine.

If it were her simple and kind sister, she might have believed him.

But Eve Thompson was no soft persimmon!

If he wanted to sell his daughter for money, he would have to see if she agreed.

When Jonas left with Ava, Emma Tonkin immediately asked anxiously, "Eve, did Mr. Charlie really agree to get engaged?"

Eve clenched her fists, her eyes resolute, "I will make him agree."

Only by becoming Anthony's fiancée could she and her mother regain everything that rightfully belonged to them!
