After the bandages were removed, Adrienne Dixon's forehead was marred with an uneven patch of skin bearing a burn mark, a sight that was particularly horrifying.
Eve Thompson was startled, even though she had mentally prepared herself for a bloody sight underneath the bandages, she was taken aback.
She slightly loosened her grip and took a step back.
Just then, the door was pushed open, and Joey walked in.
Upon seeing Eve, he paused briefly, then his gaze fell onto the hospital bed. After briefly assessing the expression on Eve's face, his own expression darkened. Moving forward, he stopped in front of Adrienne, speaking in a calm tone, "I see you're scared."
For some reason, Eve didn't find Adrienne's injuries horrifying or nauseating. Instead, she felt a pang of sadness.
She asked, "What happened?"
Joey replied slowly, "There was a fire in the kitchen abroad, she got burnt. We planned on getting her cosmetic surgery after returning, but it hasn't happened yet…"
