She walked over and saw that five or six dishes had already been arranged on the dining table, all of which looked and smelled delicious. Next to them was a handmade cake, even more exquisite than those found in stores outside. It had the words "Happy Birthday" written on it and was most likely made by Emma herself.
Whose birthday was it today?
Just as she was wondering, Emma came out carrying the last dish of soup and saw Eve. She smiled gently, "You're back, go wash your hands. Today is your dad's birthday. We're going to have dinner together as a family."
There was a mole near the corner of Emma's eye, and when she smiled, she looked exceptionally gentle and virtuous.
Eve felt stifled. She really couldn't understand why Jonas would ignore a beautiful woman like her mother and be attracted to Ava White instead. She also couldn't understand why her mother would still have fantasies about him, knowing how cruel he had been to her and her daughters.
