Half an hour later.
The infirmary.
Alex Tonkin assisted Lana Thompson out the door.
As they walked, Lana said, "Alex, I told you it wasn't a big deal, but you insisted on bringing me to the school's infirmary anyway..."
Alex's face looked haggard, his emotions turbulently complex.
Hearing Lana's words, he pursed his lips, exhaled a sigh, and said, "I still need to apologize to you."
"It's okay." Lana reassured him, shifting her foot. "Ah, but the Halloween party performance tomorrow night might be a bit of a hassle."
Alex asked anxiously, "What are you supposed to perform?"
Lana always loved ethereal things. Her chosen performance piece was the violoncello.
Alex paused, then offered, "Then, let me help you tomorrow."
Since Lana had sprained her ankle and couldn't walk properly, she would need someone's assistance. That's what she wanted to hear. She envisioned Alex helping her onto the stage tomorrow, wondered how Freya would react in the audience!
