Eve Thompson drank red wine in gulps, finding Brooke Hartley's chatter overbearing.
Getting no response, Brooke put down her fork: "Hey, what are you thinking about? I'm talking to you, didn't you hear me?"
"I'm thinking…" Eve set down the wine glass in her hand.
After a few glasses of wine, her cheeks were flushed, her eyes glistening. Then she spoke slowly: "How can there exist such an annoying creature like you in the world?"
"You…!" Brooke, getting angry, shot up from her chair, hands slamming onto the table, just as the door of the private room swung open.
