As he took the knife, she sat by his side, tapping her finger on the green figure and looking at him with hopeful eyes, giggling with unmistakable intent.
She wanted that green figure.
Like the one dressed in a military uniform just like him.
James Black gave a soft chuckle and did as she wished, cutting that piece of cake for her. As Jane Sampson held the cake, beaming so broadly her eyes nearly vanished, the urge to kiss her grew even stronger within him.
And she seemed completely unaware of it.
"I'm telling you, though the cake I made might not look great, it's delicious." Jane handed him a spoonful near his lips, "Taste it, see if it's not."
James accepted it, gently biting down. After swallowing, he spoke in a deep voice, "It is delicious."
At that, he paused, then added, "As sweet as you."
Jane's hand visibly trembled at James's words, and then he could see her cheeks turn red.
