Because she suddenly received the news that Thomas Lancaster and Yvette Quick had returned, Jane Sampson felt her mood lift after washing the dishes, filled with anticipation of reuniting with good friends after many years apart.
"You seem happy?" James Black moved closer to Jane Sampson, wrapping his arms around her waist, his voice lowering slightly, "You don't seem this happy even when you see me."
Jane Sampson shook her head with a light smile but didn't respond to James Black.
How could she be so happy to see James Black?
Could this guy take her to eat barbecue skewers? Could he sneak her out to drink wine? Could he take her to try every snack on the street?
Nope.
But Yvette Quick could.
After washing the dishes, Jane Sampson happily returned to her room, then called Nina Rice, and they chatted excitedly on the phone about the gathering happening tomorrow night.
After hanging up, she checked the time and realized she had unknowingly talked for more than an hour.
