"Isn't this coming out right now?" James Black chuckled, "Come here."
Jane Sampson flared her lips in annoyance, sure that he was taking her concern for granted.
Hmph!
Jane Sampson and James Black faced each other through the kitchen door, one inside and the other outside, locking eyes for a few seconds. Then it was Jane who gave in first, stepping out.
"I came out," Jane said in a muffled voice as she stood before James Black.
"Didn't you want to drink some water? Did you?" James Black asked.
Jane shook her head. Drinking water was just an excuse she had used to get away from James Black at that moment.
She wasn't actually thirsty; she just didn't want to stay where James Black could see her crying.
"Still want to drink?" James Black continued to inquire.
Jane shook her head and quickly nodded, opening her mouth to reply with one word, "Drink."
