James Black accepted the friend request, and the next second, Jane Sampson's video call came through.
James answered, and the mobile phone screen dimmed for two seconds; after a while, Jane's enlarged face appeared. It looked like she was having trouble with her phone, totally oblivious to the fact that the video had connected.
"Jane Sampson." James called her out through the phone.
Then Jane exclaimed, "It's connected? My phone just froze, it was all black."
After mumbling that, Jane quickly made a big, radiant smile at the lens, pinching her phone in one hand, then scooted over to the sofa. With the other hand, she hooked the lollipop she had thrown on the sofa and held it up to the phone to show him.
Grinning with bared teeth, "James, look, I haven't eaten it! It's still here in good condition."
Such an acknowledgment of defeat, was rather spineless indeed.
