Jane Sampson took two steps forward as told, and was about to speak when she saw James Black suddenly lean down and kiss her on the lips.
It was like a dragonfly skimming the water, just a light touch, and then he bit her lip gently before letting go.
"Go on up," he said, rubbing her forehead gently with his hand and then pushing on her back to signal her to move upstairs.
Jane Sampson stole a glance at the tall man behind her, standing right where his shadow fell on the ground, stepping on his shadow.
Her toes scuffed the ground, and a few seconds later, she lifted her foot to step out and went upstairs.
After running up to the second floor, Jane Sampson, as if led by some ghostly force, went out to the passage to look down and saw James Black still standing there without moving. He even looked up at her, prompting Jane to quickly pull her head back and then hurry back to dormitory.
