If it weren't for James Black calling out to Jane Sampson several times in the living room, eventually losing patience and coming into the bedroom with a cold expression, Jane might not have been willing to hang up the phone at all.
"Who were you talking to on the phone so happily?" James asked after Jane sat down.
"Senior Young's daughter, the one you met when we were eating breakfast last time," Jane responded.
"Oh, that delightful little miss." James was impressed with the charming young girl. After all, he wasn't a very patient person and didn't particularly like children, but that young girl was one of the few children James actually liked.
"What did Shirley Young call you about?" Once James spoke, he didn't even notice that he seemed to be examining Jane in a way, insisting on knowing all the details of her previous conversation.
Luckily, Jane didn't think too much of it and told him her plans for tomorrow morning.
