Time flew by amidst a flurry of activity; by Friday night, after finishing nocturnal filming at 2 a.m., Jane Sampson arrived back at the hotel. Taking a bath was the last thing on her mind, as the first thing she did was check her mobile phone.
Seeing no missed calls, her emotions were a mix of relief and apprehension.
She was glad that James Black hadn't called her, yet she worried about when he would.
It was like living with a knife hanging over her head, knowing it would fall but unable to predict exactly when. After taking a bath and lying down in bed, it was already around 3 a.m. Jane felt relieved that she had no scenes the next morning and could sleep in until a little past eleven before getting up for a meal, all the while reflecting on aspects of that day's filming she could have perfected.
This was Jane's first drama, and although Daniel Taylor did not spare her feelings when she made mistakes, he always took special care of her.
