Jane Sampson sat on the ground without any concern for her image, her face shining like starlight as she looked up at James Black through her sunglasses, her voice upbeat, "So, where are you taking me next time?" as she held a water bottle that was only half full.
Even though he couldn't see her eyes behind her sunglasses, James could still feel that they were sparkling.
James curled the corner of his mouth in an inscrutable smile and said, "I'll take you..."
He deliberately paused before continuing, "to climb the Great Wall."
Jane was startled for a moment, then, in a huff, she grabbed a handful of sand from next to her and threw it at James.
"I'm not going! James Black, you turtle egg! Cough, cough, cough! Damn! Why is the sand all flying toward my face?"
Jane didn't even have time to stand up; instead, she rolled to the side.
The handful of sand she had thrown at James seemed to all end up back on her own face.
