After finishing her sentence, Jane Sampson shifted over in the bed, making a small space, and then looked up at James Black, tapping the spot she had freed, "You didn't get any rest last night either, so I'll share some space for you to come up and sleep with me for a while."
James Black was quite surprised that Jane was being so generous towards him.
The hospital bed wasn't big, just a 1.2-meter-wide single bed. With James Black's tall frame and long limbs, he could take up two-thirds of it when lying down.
James Black initially wanted to say he didn't need it, that going a night without rest was a piece of cake for him. Whether he was going out for tasks or during team performances, it was quite common for him not to sleep for days at a time.
But since this was the first time Jane had been so generous in inviting him, after some thought, James Black took off his shoes and lay down in the bed.
