Having asked all she wanted to, Jane Sampson was ready to hang up the phone when James Black called out to her and suddenly asked, "Did you see your auntie today when you went back to the Black Residence?"
"I did, both my auntie and uncle-in-law were at home. Oh! And I ran into grandfather there!" Jane couldn't help but burst into laughter as she mentioned this.
The sound of her laughter was infectious; anyone could tell she was very happy.
James's expression, however, gradually darkened. Had Old Sir spoken to her about divorcing him? Was that why she was so cheerful?
