"President Sampton," James Black began, not with 'dad,' and his voice was exceptionally cold and hard, "in this world, no one has the right to discipline her over me, her husband, nor is anyone qualified to lay a hand on her. I don't want to see any handprint on my wife's face, not even yours."
"So please remember, let this not happen again!"
After these words, the phone call was ended, and only the buzzing sound remained in the mobile phone until it unnerved and conflicted Father Sampton.
The "her" in question was, undoubtedly, Jane Sampson.
Even Jane herself hadn't expected James to be so protective of her. Just because she had been slapped by her father, he had coldly called Father Sampton to threaten him, putting Father Sampton's pride on the line.
"James Black," Jane felt a small surge of emotion inside her and reached out to tug at the man who had been nearly exploding with anger a few minutes earlier, "thank you."
