This residential community is where Jane Sampson and James Black's marital home is located, a high-end residential area, about forty minutes by car from the Sampton family's villa district.
During those forty minutes, the car compartment was so quiet that it seemed like even the sound of a needle dropping to the ground could be heard. The siblings in the front row occasionally exchanged glances, but no one spoke; meanwhile, James Black in the rear seat had already closed his eyes to rest.
There was some traffic congestion on the road, so by the time the car arrived at the Sampton family's main gate entrance, the Sampton home was already bustling with activity. The Sampton family's servants recognized Jane Sampson's car, so as soon as Jane's vehicle entered, someone came over.
"Miss Jane has finally arrived; just now, Mrs. Sampton and Miss had already come out to ask many times," said a servant.
Jane Sampson stepped out of the car, touched the ground, and the first thing she did was look down to adjust her clothes, making sure there were no creases, before she was finally satisfied.
James Black got out of the car behind her and noticed that Old Chip's expression clearly shook when he saw the clothes on Jane Sampson; it did not seem to be solely because Jane was well-dressed, but rather as if there was something else hidden beneath his reaction.
"Old Chip, my sister looks especially pretty today, right?" Now that they were at his own home, Bright Sampton wasn't so timid, and even dared to steal a glance at James Black as he complimented Jane Sampson in front of him.
"Young Master," Old Chip was an old servant of the Sampton family, essentially having watched Jane Sampson and Bright Sampton grow up. The siblings had always been close, so it was not surprising to see Bright Sampton and Jane Sampson return together.
However, the surprise came again when Old Chip saw James Black exiting the car, "Mr. Black is also here, please come in quickly. The madam and mister will definitely be very happy to know that Mr. Black has come," he welcomed them.
Not wanting to run the risk of offending Mr. Black, since neither the master nor the madam of the house would dare to do so lightly, Old Chip decided it would be better to speak less and do more; he had no place to meddle in the affairs of the masters.
"Let's go," James Black walked over to Jane Sampson, reached out to take her hand, and led her directly inside.
The Sampton family's living room already had quite a few guests by now. When James Black walked in holding Jane Sampson's hand, people inside couldn't help but glance over at the doorway a couple of times.
In previous years, James Black had never come for Mrs. Sampton's birthday; it had always been Jane Sampson returning to her mother's home alone, so this year everyone thought it would be the same as before.
In fact, people in the know understood that the relationship between Jane Sampson and James Black was not particularly good; James Black was often at the team base, and even his wife Jane Sampson might not see him more than a few times in a year. At the Black Family's banquets, Jane Sampson was almost never seen, so it was the general belief that this year James Black would still not accompany Jane Sampson to her mother-in-law's birthday banquet.
But unexpectedly, there was a surprise, James Black appeared holding Jane Sampson's hand.
Of course, more surprising than James Black was Jane Sampson.
As a guard, James Black had an insight beyond ordinary people's; from the moment he entered, he felt that the guests were sizing him up along with Jane Sampson by his side. Although he couldn't hear what they were saying about Jane, he could see the amused expressions on some of their faces.
Amusement? Or rather, they were watching with interest.
"Is Jane back?" Father Sampton, upon hearing the news that Jane Sampson and James Black had returned together, immediately put down what he was doing and hurried over. Seeing the perfect couple standing at the entrance, he immediately broke into a smile and quickly walked toward them.
