"How is that possible! If I had hit the tree trunk, then how would Henry Bright have fallen!" Jane Sampson thought James Black was teasing her, "I said I wanted the truth! I want the truth!"
James Black burst into laughter.
Was the little fellow being unreasonable now?
She had just requested the truth, and now she's not happy, pouting unhappily?
"Jane Sampson," James Black called out, "no playing games."
"I'm not!" Jane Sampson stomped her foot in frustration, "If I didn't shoot accurately, how did Henry fall?"
Seeing Jane Sampson like this, James finally understood; did Jane genuinely believe she was the one who had lethally shot Henry?
"Come on, tell me." Jane Sampson gently urged James.
Only then did James slowly begin to speak. "It was me who fired."
After saying this, he explained, "When I got there, I saw Henry going towards you with a dagger while you held the gun. Given the positions, it was too late to stop him before he got to you, so I fired my gun."
