At last, when Jane Sampson made the third call, the phone on the other end was finally picked up.
"I was in the restroom just now, so I picked up late. Is there an emergency?" James Black had heard the mobile phone ringing continuously outside the restroom; it would stop and then start again.
"Ah..." Jane Sampson opened her mouth but was at a loss for how to begin explaining the morning's event.
Hearing Jane Sampson's silly pause, James Black unconsciously curved the corners of his mouth, mimicking her whiny tone, he asked, "Miss me?"
Jane Sampson's pretty smile faltered, she blinked, coughed, and said, "A little."
Three words, and at that moment, James Black's laughter was unabashed.
"I'll come back home on the weekend," James Black said, "Wait for me patiently at home."
"Mmm." Jane Sampson responded and then mustered the courage to ask in a soft voice, "Did Sister Tin tell you about my audition this morning?"
