The traffic flowed smoothly all the way, and since Alexander Forest was starving, the car did not drive slowly, and the two of them arrived at eight o'clock.
Jane Sampson, who had been eagerly awaiting James Black's return in the living room, immediately jumped up from the sofa as soon as she heard the sound of the car in the courtyard. She had turned on the TV for the whole afternoon, and at this point, Jane had not heard a single line of what was being shown. Jane hurried out to the courtyard, and right as she got next to the car, Alexander was helping James open the car door. Jane stepped back to give James space to get out, her eyes sparkling as she blurted out, "You're back!"
Only after stabilizing himself did James turn to look at Jane, her smiling face so radiant that it easily lifted his spirits, and he gently curved the corners of his mouth into a faint smile back at her.
"Yeah," James nodded, then asked, "Have you eaten?"
