James Black's tone was severely strict, as if he was knowingly committing a crime of added degree, and Jane Sampson just froze there, stunned.
She thought James Black was just joking with her, but after observing his expression for a few minutes, she finally understood that he was serious and not joking at all.
"Jane Sampson, besides me, who else do you want to kiss? Who, huh?" His last "huh" carried an indescribable threat.
After he spoke, James Black leaned one hand against the grape trellis behind Jane, slightly bending over and adding spatial threat to his already menacing tone.
Jane swallowed hard and quickly shook her head, "I didn't kiss anyone, nobody at all."
Feeling that was still not enough after speaking, Jane tiptoed to peck the corner of James's lips and said earnestly, "Just you, nobody else."
Feeling her brief kiss, James raised his eyebrows but said nothing.
Jane thought for a moment, then continued, "You gave a good scolding."
