Madeleine smiled and stopped the waiter, letting him leave the plate.
Howard looked at Madeleine with a touch of surprise in his eyes.
One telling the waiter to put it down, the other to pour it out, the waiter stood to the side, appearing a bit helpless. In the end, Madeleine reached out, took the plate from the waiter's tray, placed it on the table, then picked up her chopsticks, and stuffed a piece of onion into her mouth. She chewed twice, swallowed, then with a smile curving in her eyes, she warmly said to the waiter standing by, "It's quite delicious, thank you."
Once the waiter had left, Howard asked, "Didn't you use to not eat onions?"
